Missing Dog Found

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - A basset hound that disappeared from its California home in December has been found 430 miles away in Arizona.

The dog, named Fred, was found by an employee Wednesday in the parking lot of the Second Chance Center for Animals in Flagstaff.

The next morning, staff members with the shelter found a microchip in Fred that let them figure out he was registered at Riverside County Animal Control.

The shelter contacted Fred's speechless owner on Friday.

The owner said Fred disappeared after she moved to Riverside in December. She didn't know how he could have ended up in Flagstaff.

Paul Fink, a veterinarian at the Flagstaff shelter and a pilot, has offered to fly the dog home to his family.

They found a microchip in the dog???

HAHA

Something new all the time

Whats the owner thinking? Dog tags around his neck would have been sufficient lol

Yes it's relatively new. Inserted just under the skin of the neck I believe.

I just don't know why our soldiers in field aren't given this system?

hmm...but isnt this SO the owners can track the dog via GPS or satelittle systems and whatnot?

If its only purpose is to say where the dog came from thats pretty crazy.

I guess I would try to get 400 miles away from my owner if they were putting laptops in my neck. I bet that dog is real pissed off right now, he was like a prison breaker that escpaped into the largest forest known to man. He thought he was scott-free

Better luck next time lassie

The microchips are great. it's about the size of a grain of rice and sits under the skin in the neck/upper back area. Our neighbor was watching our whippett for us for ONE day, and it got out. We put up signs, posted on craiglist and even contacted all vets & shelters in 30 mile radius.

2 months later, some dumbass took our dog to the vet to get a checkup. The vet found the chip and and scanned it and our name came up with dogs real name. She started to ask the lady how long she's had him, and dumb bitch claimed since he was born and they just moved into the area. SHe asked if he was chipped and she had zero clue what that was. This vet was 60 miles away.

long story short, we got our dog back. Wife was super happy and all beacuse of the chip. And our dog was also wearing a stitched collar and had 2 tags on it.

it's worth the 60 bucks

I would love the day when somebody tries putting something in my neck so they dont lose me. I would be doing a lot more then running away

I would bite my owner so they put me to sleep

ride or die...

dog answered to it's old name funny enough. He still knew all of hand commands. She didn't even know he knew him. We just left it alone, and didn't call the cops. who knows how she got him, but it's funny that she tried to claim him as hers from a puppy.

as far the dog feeling anything, other than the sting of a needle, that's all they feel. We spent $600 dollars for a pure breed. That what's we wanted. We either had to chip him or tatoo him as per our purchase agreement from the breeder. tatoo seemed to painful. Chip is over and done.
