In The Months of Madness
I received the newest issue of Cigar Aficionado in the mail yesterday (April edition). There is an interesting article on the Las Vegas oddsmakers during March Madness. The article refers to pro bettor, Alan Boston. I cannot find the full article online yet so I will type some important and interesting parts of the article for the Mall.

Article was written during the 2007 March Madness tournaments.
LVSC watch CBS and ESPN because "you never know what gems of wisdom the talking heads will offer." LVSC created the first round lines in 45 minutes or roughly 1 1/2 minutes per game. "If there are 100 people in the room, we want 50/50 opinions...then the casinos take no risk and keeps 10% vigorish..." Alan Boston embraces March Madness because of the public action. "The lines move in ways to create opportunities." Sportsbook Director, Robert Walker, sits in front of 3 computer monitors. He tracks the lines and inflow of cash. Alan Boston IMs with his gambling buddies and occasionally has wagers in excess of $10,000. Last edited by NY Mane; 03-02-2008 at 09:00 AM. |
