Which is the most over appreciated position in sports?

Could it be those running backs who are on top of the world one year & cut the next? (except for elite)

is it the designated hitter?

how about the 7.6 center who can dunk without barely leaving his feat?

Something else?

What's your "big deal" in sports?

Over appreciated = over paid. Most pro athletes fit in this category.

Hey Boys,

I know its not a position, more of a stat, but I think it fits the criteria. In baseball I will say the ON BASE PERCENTAGE stat. For my money, I dont care if the OBP, is 300 or 375, I want the guy to be productive. If he hits 30 hr & 100 RBI, I will take that every day of the week, even if his OBP is 325.

Disagree. I would take Ichiro over Mark Reynolds everyday, your basically saying you would prefer Reynolds with that statement. Has Ichiro been UNPRODUCTIVE?

And runningback by FAR. I cant count the amount of runningbacks who I barely knew who rushed for 1000 yards. Easily the most overvalued and over-hyped position in sports. They say every year its the easiest position to transition to from college to pro.

disagree. OBP is a good indicator on how productive a batter is. The definition of productive is not making an out, whether it is by walk or hit or error. Anytime a batter reaches base, it is a productive at bat.

Wide receiver..just needs a catch and run skill set. They sometimes take too much credit when the rest of the offense sets them up to make a play. I.E..T.O, chad johnson to name a few.

closers are overappreciated until yours blows 3 saves in a row and you fall out of a pennant race

if you say closer, you have never been a braves fan and watch them shit away numerous playoff games over the last 20yrs. closer is a tough job, by the way.

for me i say most over appreciated position is wide receiver. dime a dozen.
