Arrow My letter to representatives - everyone should send something similar

TO many people say someone else will do it and don't do it themselves. We need everyone to fight and do their part.

Playing Poker or Betting on Sports is a hobby for most and if you enjoy your hobby - do something about it

Find your senator - (thanks ups) http://www.senate.gov/general/contac...nators_cfm.cfm

Dear Senator,

This letter is a very serious one about our freedoms being lost in America. This is no longer about Republicans or Democrats. This is about America, the land of the free and what is happening.

I like to wager on football and even play a little poker. I am sorry Mr Senator but I am not a criminal.

What is going on recently is a sad story for the American people. In October of 2006 Senator Frist snuck the online gambling bill in to a very important Port Security Bill that crossed a line of trust and faith in America.

Sure there are issues with gambling. We need to take addictions seriously and of course we want to keep our kids safe.

With that being said there are people who are businessmen being arrested and treated worse than terrorists.

I think you will find that most gamblers also do not like terrorists and would like to help anyway we can. Lumping gamblers or poker players with this group is insulting, degrading and flat out not right.

When are the politicians going to step up for the freedom and right as Americans to participate in a no harm hobby?

I urge you and other Political voices to stand up for what is right and protect us Americans from our own government.

Please speak up now. This is critical and what will be next? Please do the American thing and stop this vendetta or crusade if you will on Gambling.

Obviously our country say it’s okay to play the lottery, horse racing and other forums of gambling. Please help Americans and please help America from being the laughing stock.

I am a proud American and my rights are being violated. Please step up and do something about this.

Thank you in advance.

Respectfully,

Of course

Find your reps in your area. Send it to anyone you can. It can’t hurt or get worse

If you read the Andrew Beyer column from yesterday, you'll see he puts responsibility for destroying the industry on the republicans where it belongs. Another example of their hipocrasy. Nothing but nazis who wrap themselves in the flag and pretend to be the most patriotic of americans.

As long as the republican party succeeds with their mind games, it will get worse.

Look I do not want to talk or turn this in to a Repub/Dem political BS.

It’s about Americans – Republicans, Democrats and everyone

Democrats have some power now right? So let’s see them get to work then.

But seriously this is an American issue not any one party

here is what i added to your letter jack

Senator Frist claims that the moral fiber of the American family is being depreciated. He sees that online gambling is a major cause of such crumbling of morality. If that being said it is fine and dandy to go to casinos and gamble. A family man could spend 15 hours a day at a casino and wouldn’t that be taking him away from his family? If one was to play poker online the husband and father/wife and mother could be at home and not neglecting their family.

Also, wouldn’t one see pornography as more of a breakdown in the moral fiber of the family in our society? Online pornography is easily accessible and many can spend 30 dollars or more a month per site to stare down their fantasies on the computer. Oh, but he neglected to speak out against that.

I urge you and other Political voices to stand up for what is right and protect us Americans from our own government. Does America really want to be compared to the Middle Eastern countries and the zealots there? After all, those are the people who we seem to be against the last couple of decades. It is becoming more evident everyday that the gross similarities between the USA and the Middle East are becoming sad but true.

Gambling is a victimless crime. Sure some lose and some win, but it is their decision to risk the money. Let the people decide if they want to take a chance. After all, everyday we get up we gamble and risk our lives in whatever we do. When the business man drives to work, he is gambling with his life. He could very easily die in a crash. A police officer is gambling everyday when he is on his beat. He could be gunned down by a criminal while on duty. But what allows them to be safe? They are informed and prepared. They take precautions and can help make themselves exempt from loss. There are some cases where even the most prepared can’t escape the misfortune of tragedy. The businessman crashes into a bus and dies. The police officer, with the bullet proof vest intact and eyes wide open, can still fall victim to death. This can be seen in gambling as well. Poker players can prepare themselves by knowing the odds, the players’ tendencies they are playing with, and what they think might happen. They are informed and prepared and then the risk isn’t as great. But at the same time there is the unlucky side. A player could be well prepared, but still can’t dodge bullets all the time. That is pretty much analogous with the aforementioned scenarios

You're right on this one. Not only do we have no political muscle, most people are down on gambling and the notion of a crusade for gambler's rights is silly talk.

Try not to use the letter verbatim.
Otherwise it becomes a form letter.....and in that case, it becomes a petition.

The government is NOT getting a piece of the action.

If they are, they would not bite the hand that feeds it.
