My new toy truck...any mechanics in here ?

I was looking for a sweet pickup truck, just to run around in for fun this summer.
Found a gem locally, super sweet.
1980 Chevy Scottsdale that is totally mint and beefed up. Got it for under
$5000 !
This thing is a beautiful truck ! Going to take a picture with it and will let you guys see.

Question is :
The truck came from Florida and has the heater disabled.
2 hoses come out of the heater core. I know one goes to the water pump which they have plugged, can someone tell me where the other one is supposed to go, so I can hook it up?

Thanks, its still chilly here you know ?

p.s...gets about 12 miles to the gallon.
350 4 barrell...holley duel feed double pumper. Edelbrock high rise manifold !

If it is by passed I'll bet the heater core has a leak in it.That would be the only reason to bypass like that. The other hose goes into the intake manifold. They might have a plug in it.I hope that helps.

I might just drive up and get you if you can get my heater on.
Gin tastes like pine tree to me and makes me puke. Is that okay ?

The heater core was bad but my neighbor put a new one in for me this afternoon. He isn't a mechanic but new how to put it in there. I have to buy the hoses for it and know that one of them goes to the water pump cause I bought a book about how to fix the truck and it showed a picture.
The intake manifold is what somebody else told me, but what is that.
I thought it was like the thing that the carb is bolted onto pwherr is that correct? The flat top part of the engine right ? Thanks bud !

Correct.Should be towards the front and standing in front of the truck on the left.Is the intake Aluminum? If so look for a brass plug. You will have to remove it and put a threaded tube in it's place. For that matter if it is a cast manifold the plug will prob still be brass.

Well I just thought of this. It has an Edelbrock high-rise manifold and says Edelbrock on it. Is this the intake manifold, or just the manifold...lol...
Sorry if its stupid questions but I think I can take out the plugs and put the hoses on myself without getting drilled at the shop.

Yes that is the intake manifold. There should be a brass plug just unscrew it out and it is already threaded so just replace it with a threaded on on side pipe on the other and that should do it.

Thanks so much pal.
I think that I will find it, not sure if it aluminum or cast though. Its all chromed up under there and I think it is aluminum possibly.
If I can find the plug, they will help me buy what I need to put in it at the auto-parts store I think. Can I buy the threaded tube for it or do you have to get it out of a junker ? Does it matter which hose goes to the water pump and which goes to the intake manifold ? If you know.

Yes it is aluminum. You can get the tubes at any parts store. And it doesn't matter which goes where because on that year there is no heater control valve. You should be able to do it yourself.

Geez...you made my day pwherr !
I am so glad that you could answer my questions. I loved the truck as soon as I saw it but they didn't tell me about the heater, which ticked me off.
I appreciate the help so very much and am going to climb under the hood tomorrow morning. Those that fix cars and trucks for a living deserve to be paid a hell of a lot more than they probably make, as it is so dirty and greasy on them. Again, thanks so much for the help !
