Arrow My take on the Internet Gambling Bill in very simple terms

1. There will be NO PROSECUTION of anyone who makes a bet online. If they go after betting operators that is one thing but there will be no risk in terms of criminal activity for making a bet.

2. There will be some banks who will no longer take transactions with gambling affiliated activities. This is really not much different than when MasterCard or Paypal went the same route. For now it seems like it could cause an inconvenience but I believe that is where it ends and there will be alternatives.

3. There are people who are very upset about the way this was squeezed inside an important bill to get what some politicians have had on their agenda for a while. This will only cause the fight for online gambling to get bigger.

4. Any big sportsbook who is reputable and financially secure will not change one bit. They are not in this for short term. This is their industry and they will not go away.

5. Even though credit card and other transactions will become more difficult to make – I am not sure they will ever be able to stop EFT transfers and other ways of transferring money.

6. The goal for these bill makers from my perspective is if they are able to scare off a few gamblers than they have done some good (according to their beliefs) but overall this might even make the offshore industry work together more and be even bigger.

Over the next year and especially over the next few months there will be several articles with opinions on both sides of this discussion. I am not an expert and I don’t claim to be. However after speaking to several offshore contacts (some have given me the okay to discuss and some would rather be quiet about it) and also speaking to several attorneys and other notable “experts” in the industry this bill is basically a bump in the road and will not do much to damage the offshore industry.

What I have been told the key part of this bill – was the removal of certain language which would have said that the 1961 wire act applies to online gambling. Without this language – online gambling will go on as usual.

Again – these are just my thoughts and opinions. You will here a lot of opinions over time and I am sure you will form your own opinions. I just wanted to share my thoughts.

All good but we just as citzens need to look at the bigger picture
If some small minority group, who bothers to go vote, decides they do not like "this or that" will those interest get attached to the next bill through congress
It was VERY VERY clear what the current majority IN POLTICAL POWER stands for
Please people take the time to go vote
