My view on Barry Bonds, etc...

I'm gonna do an attempt to present my brief argument in a chronological manner, on steroids/cheating/hgh

In 1887, HOF pitcher Pud Galvin injected himself with testosterone, are we to believe he was the only baseball player to do that at that time (http://www.pudgalvin.com/2006/12/05/...l-of-fame.html)

In 1935, isolated testosterone injections were available to the medical community (http://books.google.com/books?id=I7-...olt0c#PPA60,M1)

1961, Norm Cash has the year of his life, having career highs in every major offensive category and finishing 4th in the AL MVP voting, then later admitting he used a corked bat throughout the entire season

In 1963, a newly hired trainer for the San Diego Chargers, Alvin Roy, introduced Dianobol, an anabolic steroid. "Some of the former Chargers say that they were not informed that the [pills]...were anabolic steroids, and they add that...players who refused to take the pills would be fined." ('')

Anabolic Steroids became widespread in the 1964 and 1968 Olympics ('')

1969, Ball Four was written. The book listed in detail invariable amphetamine usage by Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays, and basically everybody that Jim Bouton played with. Amphetamines today warrants a 25 game suspension for first offense, and 100 games for second offense.

"Testimony of former NFL players supports the charge that steroid use escalated in the NFL from the late 1970s," as high as 60-70% ('')

2004, Carolina Panthers steroid probe (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/...in683747.shtml)

2005, Jim Haslet said steroid use was rampant throughout the NFL in the 70s and 80s (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...2005Mar24.html)

2006, Shawn Merriman suspended 4 games for steroids, yet finishes 2nd in Defensive MVP award

2007, Bonds breaks HR record

dont' feel like writing anymore, but I consider myself the voice of reason on this issue

seems irrational, ignorant, and hypocritical to hate barry bonds b/c of steroids/hgh

so what is it people hate about him. Is it a race issue? are there just racists in this forum

is it a likeability issue? Do people hate him b/c he cheated on his wife? Well 99% of athletes cheat on their wives

so bonds haters

In this case, the one he hit last night will get higher dollars at auction. Same guy that bought the other recent milestone ball will probably end up with this one, kinda helps prop up the value of the ones he already has if he can keep the collection together.

Guy is some comic book guru if I remember correctly, but dont quote me on that one. Must be nice to drop a couple mil every now and then on a baseball.

The only part I do not agree with is the Haslet part...Haslet stated that steroids was rampant in the 70's and 80's, but it was still rampant in the early 90's when randomized testing was implemented...Then it was just replaced with HGH. Does anyone believe that 90% of football players are still clean? You've lost your mind if so. Human beings have genetic limitations when it comes to size and muscle and fat loss...HGH and Steroids take us beyond the limits. Beyond size - for recuperation alone...Don't kid yourself people, it is entertainment first and sport second.

Would be pretty confident to say Hank's record breaker would command more money than #755 would if auctioned today. The collector's market is rather fickle and strange at times.

Which would you rather have, Bonds's #756 or his #788? #800 would present a whole different scenario.
