Name the active/recently retired MLB players who will be 1st ballot HOFers

Looking for players you think will be inducted during their 1st year of eligibility. As shown by the MLB.com list below, this is a rather exclusive group.

A few for your consideration and discussion to get things started (I know I am probably forgetting some who should be mentioned):

Recently retired: I think Greg Maddux & Ken Griffey Jr are locks

Players who are still active that have a chance: Alex Rodriguez, Mariano Rivera and Albert Pujols have the best shots IMO

Funny thing was we were the only folks asking for him to sign as no one else knew who the heck he was.

While he has had a good career, I dont think he has even put up good enough #'s to even make the HOF let alone be a 1st ballot inductee. Biggest problem is he spent his whole career in Colorado as writers will hold that against him IMO.

No way Arod does after his admitted steroid use. I do not think Rivera will either on a 1st ballot because he is a closer. Closers have a hard enough time getting in period, nevermind 1st ballot. he will get in I just do not think 1st ballot.

Jeter
Pujols
Maddux
Griffey

Mine would be

Maddox
Randy Johnson
Griffey Jr

I would be okay with Jeter too but ether way is fine by me

piazza i dont think so, even with the great offense, his defense was bad, and he never won a champtionship which might have made up for it

pujols if he keeps up the pace, but i think it's gonna be alot harder for guys to do that now post - steroid era. gonna go back to decline starting at 32 for most players

no to arod, no to Mo

this is a very select list and im glad it's not watered down, hope it stays that way. i did think roberto alomar deserved on it though

Both make it to the hall, neither get in on 1st ballot IMHO. If you look at the list I included in my initial post, pretty exclusive club which the writers really try to protect. 39 have made it on 1st ballot in last 40 years.

Some who were not 1st ballot choices: Yogi Berra, Carlton Fisk, Roy Campanella, Harmon Killebrew, Billy Williams, Eddie Matthews, Don Drysdale, Whitey Ford, Rollie Fingers, Fergie Jenkins
