Nascar Hits a New Low

Nascar, and the Charlotte Morot Speedway, in a desperate attempt to sell more tickets for their May race, has put tickets on sale at a special price. The price will be determined by how many cars wreck in the biggest wreck at the Talladega race today. So basically they are hoping to drum up interest by hoping for a big wreck. The more cars involved in the wreck, the better it is for the track.

This goes beyond bad taste. Nascar should be banned from T.V. for this. The fact that a big wreck could seriously hurt or kill a driver is completely overlooked. Nascar has lowered themselves to the two dollar street hooker level. Watch the race today, count the number of cars that wreck in the "big one" and buy your tickets for the Charlotte race, so you can see another "big one". This is the sign of a sick association. People knock Hockey for it's fights, but Hockey does not openly promote fighting, or sell it's tickets based on how many players are involved in the biggest fight of the game. Nascar should be made to answer for this. They hqve become a blood sucking version of wrestling, where everythng has to be orchestrated to make money, no matter who has to suffer for it.

I dont see anything wrong with this, they are just giving the fans what they want. It would be different if they said # of drivers who get hurt during these wrecks

So you do not mind a sport promoting accidents that can kill drivers just to make a few bucks on tickets that they can't sell?

i wouldnt like to see anyone get hurt today, but if someone did in the big crash i want to see nascar try to spin this... idiots. this is not a reflection of the times but like hcd said they are giving the fans what they want. what does that say about the fans and the demographics it targets?

You were probably the same guy who was against the Minor League baseball promotional run of the "Mexi-Cam"

well they do realize that apart from the moronic rednecks who follow this lame azz "sport" the only others that take any interest in the roundy rounds are the people who want to see the disasterous wreck..so their marketing strategy is right on and are in tune with their fans

Not a NASCAR fan, but if NASCAR fans would rather see wrecks than good racing, there is definitely a problem with the sport and anyone who feels this way!!!

yeah i agree, if that's what they are doing, then they are completely stupid

most sports that are dangerous are all about promoting what they do to make sure it stays safe, MMA and boxing the 2 that come to mind

didn't the most famous racer pretty much ever die from a small wreck while racing? earnhart? ****ing moronic as moronic can be
