Need some advice...Possible stiff job by bookie.

Ok so I have a peculiar predicament that I would like some intellectual conversation about....

I started betting baseball with a bookie that was recommended to me by another bookie a few months ago. I have been on a really good run as of late and am up rather large on him (well into the 5 figures, between 10,000 and 90,000 for those that must know).

The bookie and I are not geographically close so we have always settled through checks via mail. During the first few weeks of betting, the bookie sent me a few checks and he stalled me a few days but finally told me to cash them, and I did with no problems. I have no problem waiting a few days to cash a check, in my younger days of betting I asked of others to do the same...although it was odd to me someone of this "magnitude" was short over a check for just a few thousand...

After that, the bookie has sent me multiple checks and has continued to stall me with various excuses and scenarios of why he doesn't have the money but is getting it soon. I have the checks on me and I go to the banks regularly to see if the money is in the account to cash, but the banks continuously tell me there is insufficient funds in the account. I am almost positive he is keeping amounts in the account low enough where he knows the checks will bounce or will not be available to be cashed.

I am growing very impatient with this predicament and getting very tired of hearing, "any day now" when I talk to him about the availability of the money from him.

To his credit, he does exchange texts and calls from me daily and although I don't particularly believe him, acts genuinely like he is going to pay me as soon as he can.

What would be some of your methods of getting the money from him? Being that I have checks "worth" thousands of dollars from him, I feel like I have some leverage...

Rather not get too specific on that subject (although I do hint to how much)...if the number helps then use it...for some 10,000-90,000 is irrelevant, they are both the same...

Take a week off. Follow him for 3 days to see where he banks. After he makes a deposit, go certify or cash the check as he is leaving.

Call the bookie who turneed you on to this guy. If he begs off, consider it a lesson earned and money gone.

Never do biz by check with a local bookie. The first red sign was him accepting a check from you.

I agree ... and the first time he slowed payed you .. you should have ran for the hills ... that is why I will only use legit guys ... guys who have bosses if you get my drift ... not some jerk who just takes some action and pays if he wants .... a legit guy does that and he would be in a heap of trouble if his peers get wind of it!!! The players get paid no matter what!!!
