New Kid Rock Album (Rock N Roll Jesus)

anyone else get this yet ? Let me start by saying that I am NOT a fan of his music--as the white-boy rap does not do it for me at all. I had read in Rolling Stone last month that this album was going to be VERY different from what he has done in the past, and was going to have much more of a rock groove to it.

Let me tell you. I never thought I would say this, but this album is GREAT. Some of the best new music I have heard in awhile. Songs like Rock N Roll Jesus, New Orleans and So Hott really kick ass. The best tune on the album however (in my humble opinion) is called All Summer Long. He uses the familiar piano riff from Werewolves of London (Warren Zevon) and the chorus and guitar riffs from Sweet Home Alabama to create a tune that you cannot help but sing along to.

I am not a fan of people who "sample" other songs, but that is not really what he did here. He utilized the parts of those songs and then created lyrics to tell the story of a summer in 1989 ("singin' Sweet Home Alabama all summer long...").

I highly recommend this disc, and am curious as to what others think as well.

Evan: What? One name? ONE NAME!?!? Who are you? Seal?
Seth: Fogell, this ID says that you're 25 years old. Why wouldn't you just put 21, man?
Fogell: Seth, Seth, Seth. Listen up, ass-face: every day, hundreds of kids go into the liquor store with fake IDs, and every single one says they're 21. Pssh, how many 21 year olds do you think there are in this town? It's called f*cking strategy, alright?

there is also a song on there called Half Your Age which he wrote about Pam Anderson. Sings about his new girl who is "half your age, and twice as hot".

I agree 100 % Keith. Its one of the best CDs I have heard in quite some time. I "pre-ordered" it at Amazon just because it was 60 % off. The begining of Rock and Roll Jesus sounds just like the Silver Bullet Band, also from Detroit area. My favorite track is Low Life. Its a good step away from the normal Kid Rock music. I hope he comes out with more CDs like this. BTW Lee McBee will be touring with Mike Morgan and the Crawl 11/7-- 11/12 at the Lucerne Blues Festival in Switzerland. I read a new CD will be out after this European Tour.

NIce ! Glad they are hooking up again. Not gonna travel to Switzerland to see them (LOL), but would definitely be into a live album from them.

buy it. You will be really impressed by the whole thing.

BTW--how does "So Hott" get on the radio ? There are several words (rhymes with "duck") that I would not think would get past the censors. There is a parental advisory warning on the disc for a reason (and not just for that 1 song).

Kid Rock really hasn't done much of the "whiteboy rap" in quite awhile. I like Rock N Roll Jesus, but Cocky and the self titled Kid Rock are great albums as well.

LOL--doesn't qualify as a "road trip" if you can't get there by car.
