new tv? what do i need?

i am in the market for a new tv.

looking at 32 or 40 inch.

want hdmi ports, would like it to be wifi-enabled, but completely unnecessary.
will be used for ps3 and HD dish network.

I am kind of pigeon holed in shopping at best buy, as I accumulated numerous gift cards for there yesterday.

My questions are: do i need LED? 1080? 120 hz?

anyone recently purchase one and is happy?

traditionally would buy a SONY in this spot, but i dont want to just pay for the name, so to speak

LED better picture, uses less power, last longer

1080 if you can

SONY Bravia has a great picture, but consider brand unity....if you have a certain brand of receiver/audio system, the connections are usually set up to match easier (same number, side of component, etc.). And at this point, the Sonys have come down in price, and are pretty much even with other brands

LGs not bad. Paul has a big LG with all the extras. I have a 32" in a spare bedroom. Very thin and light.

If you're looking for wifi/Netflix, etc, consider that the TVs without those big extras are sometimes 50% cheaper, but you can get a decent bluray player with wifi and Netflix for under $100 on sale now, so you can have Netflix streaming for a few hundred bucks cheaper going that route.

I love Sony brand, too. Pretty loyal to them. Stuff works and last forever. But I really do like my LG.

I'm all Sony in my main room for components and TV, then all Klipsch for speakers. Not those little ones, either. Real speakers.

I think WP has one in his spare bathroom.

But I think he had trouble finding a stud in the wall to hang it, so he just pays Michael Clark Duncan $500 an hour to hold it up.

I have 2 Bravias a 32 and a 46 and wouldn't trade them for anything

The XBR series is the Sony cadillac and is pricier than the rest I have a Z and love it...the later in the alphabet the better the model with the exclusion of the XBR

Samsung. Do not buy BB hdmi cables if they are more than $20. I bought my hdmi cables online for $6 US for a six foot cable.

can't go wrong with either Samsung or Sony....

Samsung normally seems to project a more vivid picture...Sony a bit softer, smoother image, but equally as crisp...really comes down to what looks good to your eye but these are 1 and 1A imo

Black finish.

Been Klipsch speakers for me for a while.

Have the sub, too, but not using it. Those ported 8's are low and loud.
