when buying a stock, look for the following:

1. Lots of cash in the coffers
2. Little or no debt
3. Low PEG (Under 1 preferred)
4. Strong cash flows
5. Increasing profits quarter over quarter
6. Strong return on assets
7. Exclusive products

find companies that will be able to sustain strong cash flows in to the future, companies that are selling below what they should be, and always give yourself a margin of safety when determining when to buy

can you clarify what these mean? and how to find out whether a company does/doesn't have them?

If you go on Yahoo Finance, enter a symbol. In the left margin, you can click on any number of items. If you click "Key Statistics", it will give you most of this info.

Altria

Altria is a nice dividend stock (~4.10%)... It's splitting up in March, going to give the shareholders Kraft Shares.

Many of the analysts think the total value of the split companies will be @ 100.

Altria is the nice name for Phillip Morris (MO).
