Which NFL team has the best roster over its franchise history?
Was thinking about this after seeing some of the responses to the greatest Cowboys and Patriots threads. Given the following ground rules, which NFL team's roster is the most complete when compared to the other teams in the league when you consider the franchise's entire roster from its inception in the league?
1. You can plug in one player at each position and each player chosen can only be used for that position 2. Each player had to play a majority of his career with that team (ex. Favre would not qualify for the Vikings or Jets) 3. Player chosen had to have spent the majority of their playing time at the chosen position (ex. a defensive tackle doesnt qualify as a defensive end, an offensive guard doesnt qualify as an offensive tackle) 4. Defense positions will be organized around a traditional 4/3 scheme just to keep things organized (this even though it would benefit a team like the Steelers to go with a 3/4 scheme) Would like to see folks make a serious attempt at fielding their "best" team. May take alittle research work on the part of some of our younger members to fill in the best players at each roster position. Here is my shot with the Steelers: QB Terry Bradshaw RB Franco Harris RB Jerome Bettis WR Lynn Swann WR Hines Ward TE Bennie Cunningham OT Larry Brown OT Jon Kolb OG Alan Faneca OG Sam Davis C Mike Webster DE LC Greenwood DT Joe Greene DT Ernie Stautner DE Dwight White LB Joey Porter LB Jack Lambert LB James Harrison CB Rod Woodson S Donnie Shell S Troy Polamalu CB Mel Blount PK Gary Anderson P Bobby Walden Going to be hard to find a better defense from top to bottom. If you know your team history, Dallas defense may have a shot when I think about it off the top of my head. Sure there are others I havent thought about yet. Will be interested to see what you come up with.

Question is, using the best player in a franchise's history at each position, which franchise would field the best team?
List the roster as I have done for the Steelers in post #1.

one could write a fakin novel in the time it would take to follow his instructions. And it would be a big fakin bore. Lets see how many do so.
And yes, Da Bears..27 HOFers ..seems like a good shot at filling out 24 players |

Took a whole 10 minutes to do the Steelers. Bears only advantage would be at QB, RB, & TE. Weak at some other positions. Oh well...

Porter was my last choice over Ham. Lots of LBs to choose from, went with the one I thought was the most versatile.

Such a dip shit
Bears won more titles than any team in NFL history. Won maybe 6 or 7 before the Steelers were relevant |
