No Meat on Fridays During Lent

I have followed this, one of the only Catholic rules I actually follow, since I was 7 and started catholic grade school. Don't want to start a religion thread here, was just wonderig if anyone else followed this. My grandparents don't eat meat on any Fridays but they are real old school Catholic

I am not Catholic but I don't know how well I'd be able to control myself during lent. I have a lot of respect for those who can limit themselves and do it to keep up with their religion. There is nothing wrong with that at all IMO.

My mother, sister and 2/5 bros follow this tradition. I'm carnivorous thru and thru.

Ah it's only 1 day out of the week, twice during the 1at week because of Ash Wednesday. The reason they do this is was to give people who sold fish, thousands of years ago, some extra help. No real reason for this tradition honestly it's just something embedded in my brain and soul

i follow this 100% during lent, and maybe 75% the rest of the year. besides the catholic thing, i think it's not a bad idea to take a day off from meat each week for health reasons.

probably helps that i was raised not eating meat on fridays so it's ingrained in my head since childhood.

sharp move, Ronnie!

Was raised a catholic and my mother is an old school catholic....Still can care less about this or Lent....I'm with Ronnie, told my teacher (who was a priest) that I gave up Lent for Lent, and haven't been back since.

Yeah I do. First week with ash wed then friday really hard on me. Live in kansas not much fish around to acquire a taste for it. I think it is kind of silly though, I usually piss off the wife a time or two about it, but it is good for a person to give up some things including this old tradition. I dont want to upset anybody but I think people are a little to lazy in our society and it starts with parents having kids with no respect of for them and what they went through when people did not have anything. Nowdays kids cant even go 5 minutes without looking at their cell phone.
