NORV Turner Story from around the league

Found this in another forum

In 1999 The Redskins had one of there best years in recent memory losing a tuff road game to Tampa in the second round of the playoffs. Its Was Danny's first year owning the team and Norv was a hold over from the previous owner.

Brian Mitchell one of my favorite Redskins of all time has told a story on his radio show here in DC several times about my least favorite coach of all time.

After the Redskins played the Cowboys and lost after an amazing comeback by the cowboys. I can't remember if it was week 1 or 2.

Snyder came into the locker room and cursed turner out loud enough for the players to here behind closed doors.

When Norv appeared in front of the team after this he was crying. Mitchell says at that moment the team lost all respect for him and played for themselves the rest of the season.

Norv is soft and can't handle the pressure.

other reply :

Jerry Rice said "Norv Turner inspires nobody" on local radio a few years back.

Norv turner & Mike Nolan (ex 49ers HC) & Scott Linehan (Ex Rams HC)

HEY Norv start looking around for another sucker to take YOU unless Chargers owner is a total dip shit

ooooo yeahh ad a 4 th stooge in there Herm Edwards

I was at that game. We blew a 35-14 lead in the 4th quarter and Aikman hooked up with Rocket Ismail for an 80 yard touchdown the second play of overtime. Sick experience. Things haven't gotten a whole lot better for us at Fed Ex since.

Norv just has a knack for losing close games. He has done it wherever he has been. I feel bad for the guy. Really nice guy. I remember me and my buddies went to training camp one year and asked about the typical day at camp and he went on for like 10 minutes about every detail of the day. We really appreciated it.

sorry man...but i disagree with you. on norv turner not him knowing english...that i agree

sure, we've lost some close games and had some bad luck. but when you have the talent and you underachieve...the blame has to be on the coach. you even said yourself, the players are giving up..not playing with heart. isn't that one of the coaches jobs?? to fire up the players and get them motivated? i for one would like to see him gone.

no its not...the coaches job is to get the gameplan right and execute it...not give motivational speeches before every game. they are grown men and they shouldnt need that to get up for an nfl game. this is on the players, almost none of them have played up to their potential, they've had terrible luck, miss merriman terribly and they had a horrible d coordinator for 8 games. this season is part norv's fault but a large majority is the players

OK isnt an employer at head of company responsible to make sure the business is successful and his employees do thier jobs also !

There fore an NFL HC is just like the head boss HE is responsible for play calling and to make sure he has competent backups if a key starter goes down before seson starts there fore NORV is is 100% to blame for Charges losses this year HE chose to go without proper players and game plan differntly he chose his asst coaches HE chose the play calling !

THE HC is most important member of every pro team be it either NFL MLB or NBA Not the players

I cleraly stated earlier in Year that NORV turner NEVER EVER won any thing in his career as an NFL Head Coach getting to the finals and losing is NOT winning

Cowboys got to finals like 3 years in a row and lost

Eagles also Got to finals at HOME 3 or 4 years in a row and LOST

They DID however WIN the NFC conference in 2004 and GOT to The Superbowl lost by 3 points

NORV turner hasnt even seen any superbowl as a Head coach except sitting at home watching the superbowls !

Watching teams his team Beat in season WIN the Superbowl

YES he a NICE Guy just not a WINNER never has been and never will be

and he has lots of company too :

Herm Edwards- Dave Campo - Jim Mora sr. (never won a playoff game ) ummmm old vikings coach Dennis Green

How many finals DID he lose in his career with vikes
Mike Tice also Vikings H C a very long list of LOSERS that NEVER won any title in NFL as a HC !

Nice Guy yes norv turner is a Nice guy just a LOSING H C

that most likely will be gone next year from San Diego
