NY meteorologist fired for flub that sounded racist

With nearly every employer frightened of the permanently-offended internet outrage mobs, it's no surprise this NY weather man was fired. It's absolutely stupid, and anyone who has ever spoken should see this was an understandable mistake, but in the current ridiculous climate, it's still no surprise.

[BTW, as I typed this, I literally just heard a news anchor try to say "President Trump wrapping up his remarks...", but she spoke too fast and ended up saying, "President Trap...", running two words together exactly as the meteorologist did. - ML]

So apparently if you misspeak or jumble words that even sound like a slur you can lose your job these days.

You don’t even have to actually SAY IT, if someone somewhere thinks it sounded like you said it or you misspeak that will get you fired.

This is what has happened to meteorologist Jeremy Kappell in New York:

From CNN:

Quote:
During WHEC-TV’s Friday evening broadcast, Jeremy Kappell said “Martin Luther Coon Park,” when referring to a downtown Rochester park named after slain civil rights movement leader Martin Luther King Jr.

In a video viewed by CNN, Kappell says “King” immediately after using the slur and continues with the broadcast.

Kappell said his use of the slur was a mistake caused by speaking too quickly.

“What happened on Friday, to me, it’s a simple misunderstanding. If you watch me regularly you know that I tend to contain a lot of information in my weather cast, which forces me to speak fast and unfortunately I spoke a little too fast when I was referencing Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. So fast to the point where I jumbled a couple of words. In my mind I knew I mispronounced, but there was no malice. I had no idea the way it came across to many people,” he said in a video posted to Facebook Monday night.

I'm trying to imagine the thinking of the SJW outrage mob. Do they think this was all part of his master plan? Like, "I'll go to college, get a degree, become a tv meteorologist, work hard, move up through the TV markets until I get to NY, then I'm gonna say 'coon' on air! That'll show those blacks!" So ridiculous. We live in stupid, stupid times.

I was trying to figure out the offensive word. Okay, so you can maybe hear coon if you're wanting to. Just sounded like a flub to me. It's dumb in the world - I try not to leave the house anymore.

This is the lifestyle I have adopted as well. Morons everywhere.

I believe this "right to not be offended ever" grew out of the "everyone gets a trophy" policies that started around 30 years ago.

Do you think it is a conspiracy to keep people like us from going out in the world? I mean, the world gets dumber and dumber so we don't want to have to go out and deal with it.

But then technology gets better and better so we can have stuff sent right to our doorsteps. Even groceries which I assume means or will soon mean alcohol. Pot is pretty much legal now, so we can get that delivered as well I would imagine.

I can do 90% of my job online now as long as I have set up some VPNs or other Remote Desktop apps to customer sites. My office phone is my cell phone. Really no need to go to the office.

Something fishy going on here. They don't want us to leave for some reason. And it's working.

I don't think the guy should have lost his job, maybe a week suspension followed by an on air apology and it's over with, but there's no question he said the word ''coon'', there's no maybe's about it

.
In 1971 U of Wisconsin had an English 101 course to improve persuasion skills. Great knowledge of English is a prerequisite. In 1975 I am finishing at this community college but I see that English 100 is offered. I suggested that be a summer course but that would be an anti-inner city students thing.

In 1978 I took the required courses to get a real estate brokers license. Some courses were at the CC, I noticed English 98, 99 now offered.

dumber and dumber

I watched the stand-up comedy skit of the black guy who was going to host Oscars. A funny show. It starts out about his teenage boy would get a talking to if being gay showed. Funny line.

In the real world, what man does not want his surname continued and his family name to carry. There is a country western song about a poor boy who has nothing to offer his girlfriend but "My Name."

The male singer holds his name in such high regard that disrespecting it is a giant insult. At least in Alabama it still is.

Heaven forbid you should ever call a full grown man, BOY!

Would always elicit the response..
"How would you like to go home and tell your wife, you got your ass kicked by a BOY!?"
