Odds for Rollins breaking Joe D record

(Costa Rica, 2 March, 2006) Records are made to be broken, but the record that Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins is going for is one that many thought would stand forever. Rollins is 20 games away from tying the immortal Joe DiMaggio’s 56 CONSECUTIVE game hit streak. Rollins ended last season hitting safely in 36 straight games and if he can get off to a hot start this season, he too could end up in baseball history.

“This is a record that few people thought would ever be challenged,” Wagerweb.com Dave Johnson said. "Rollins has the advantage of having ended last season on a roll and having all off-season to rest and work on his hitting. If Rollins can handle the pressure of chasing one of the most sacred MLB baseball records in history, he could have a really good shot at breaking it.”

"HOW MANY GAMES WILL JIMMY ROLLINS HIT SAFELY AND WILL HE BREAK DIMAGGIO’S RECORD?”

0-4 games
1:3
-$300
*Risk $300 to win $100

5-9 games
6:1
+$600
*Risk $100 to win $600

10-14 games
15:1
+$1500
*Risk $100 to win $1500

15-19 games
25:1
+$2500
*Risk $100 to win $2500

20 or more games
50:1
+$5000
*Risk $100 to win $5000

*Wager above is on how many games Rollins will hit safely, starting on Opening Day 2006.
*A wager on “20 or more games” is a bet on Rollins breaking Dimaggio's record of 56 consecutive games.
*If he does break the record it will be separate based on the fact it was accomplished over 2 seasons.
