Oil spill very concerned

In all honsety I believe this oil spill is going to cause the economy to crash. The only chance we had of getting the fuel prices under control was to start drilling in Alaska. With this recent oil spill and our dumb as government letting BP be in charge, we are now going to be faced with higher fuel and no option of going to the sea. The animals that are dieing and plant life is horrible. Very little is being talked about but the damage is going to last for life times. How do the rest of you feel about the way this situation has been handled. While I know BP is in charge of their own mess, they are also the ones that caused this entire problem. Our government should have taken charge from day one. Once again big oil, no matter how dense, get to make the decisons for all of us. This oil has me scared and wondering where this planet is headed.

The photos yesterday of the pelicans and other animals covered head to toe in oil made me sick to my stomach. The whole thing is disgusting, yet we as humans have nobody but ourselves to blame.

From a political standpoint, both sides of the aisle trying to use this situation to bash the other side is repulsive. You would think one fu**ing time they could come together and just do what is best for the country. Instead, they spend their time casting stones at each other. Both sides are at fault, and have let big oil run the show.

The one thing I absolutely can't believe is that they had no catastrophe plan in place for this exact situation. Somebody had to think at some point, what if this happens? Yet, here we are almost two months later with no end in sight. Greed is an evil thing.

The other oil companies should be there to help shut this down.

This spill can go on for mths if not stopped. I don't want to imagine. The end of the world is near.

Totally agree, I told my wife this is a huge step towards the end of the world. While I understand that our Government doesn't have the know how, its obvious to me now that BP has no phucken clue either. This isn't about blaming one side or the other this is about taking control and moving forward not side ways. The people working at the site are now getting sick . Maybe China has it right, Nuke the hole and hope that closes the leak. It can't do anymore damage then what is going on right now. Never buying BP gas again. The boycott is on.

it is a ' drop in the bucket ' so to speak- but his is pretty serious stuff.

Lives were lost, environment and habitats were messed up- that can cost economies to be disrupted

Not a good deal.

Safety should always be first- and their should be a plan on what to do and how to fix situations like this,

YOu should always have a plan for the ' What if 's '

Let's hope that this can bring about some postives though....maybe now people will realize that we cannot allow Big Business to regulate themselves or have half-hearted regulation from gov't organizations filled with ex-employees......

Let's hope that our nation that has some of the lowest fuel prices in the world will start to tax some of that gas......because the only way to remove our dependence on foreign oil, and off of the oil tit in the firstplace, is for people to stop using so much of it....and the only way that the people of this nation will stop using it, is if they raise the price.....the total amount of all the oil that could be drilled in Alaska and offshore is a drop in the bucket compared to our need, so the only real solution is for us to be forced to find an alternate solution.....

That's fine and dandy blb but the reality is 2 thirds of our seafood comes from that region. Ships that bring other goods can't dock in that region. There is enough oil in that pocket to spew for months if not years. Good lord , do I need to go on? This spill needs to be contained asap. This can't continue into august ( which they are saying). This shit needs to stop and they should be using any means neccessary

same people who cry to get off oil would cry if we went nuclear

nuclear is the only true energy source that could replace oil

meantime thieves will tell the do-gooder (good intentioned yet naive folks) to invest in corn lol

even with nuclear, as of today nothing is more effecient than oil, nothing

everything else actually taxes more on the environment and economies

there are of course particular applications where alternative energy is neck and neck with oil

but as an all out substitute on a large scale, oil will be #1 for a long time

for sure this is a terribly disgusting tragedy, but the only thing that could make it worse would be not learning anything from it..... (and apparently the people of America have learned nothing from it, because the same numbers still support offshore drilling, and there are still kooks out there that equate regulation that could prevent this sort of thing from happening again to the final step into turning us into Russia)......
