One of the sadest days in the history of NZ today
29 coal miners dead
I shed a tear when I heard a kid talk about his Father (I have cried more than once........ first time for a long time) Also amougst the dead was a 17 year old, it was his first week on the job, all his life he wanted to be a coal miner True tradgedy very sad day They did everything they could to save them, Including sending robots down from Japan and the US But the final gas explosion ruined any hope of any of them making it out alive Radio New Zealand : News : Pike River Mine : Challenges ahead for recovery of bodies Radio New Zealand : News : Pike River Mine : Country in mourning, says Key Radio New Zealand : News : Pike River Mine : Second explosion ends all hope for miners

Terrible thing to have happen at the Holidays for those families, but reminds the rest of us what we have to be thankful for.

Terrible. How much does coal mining pay to make the risk worth it?? I just don't get it.
