Why would they rig them?? All they care about is the rake and buy in fees, that's how they make all there money, why would they "rig" the table?? Sure, there are bots and poker teams, but they can be beaten and noticed....

Some would claim that they are rigged to increase action and as a result the rake, but I don't buy it. They just don't need to, they make money hand over fist playing it straight.

sometimes i used to think this...especially about a year ago or so

i was short stack down to 3 handed...top 2 get paid in 6 man sngs...i am all in in 5 straight tournaments with the best hand each time and lose on the river to a flush where the dude had just one of the suit in his hand...kind of got me wondering...what are the odds of getting tossed in a tournament 5 straight times with the scenario the same each time

no

1) you get too see a lot more hands while playing online
2) a lot of players don't know when to fold
3) well informed players try to 'bad beat' you

these factors combined help perpetrate the common misnomer that online poker is rigged

i dont know man...for a while i could have seen it...for 5 years i never had a losing a month...then i withdrew the majority of my roll march 2007...then after that had losing months for 5 straight months...could just be a coincidence...but i have heard of that happening especially since the lack of funds being put in and kept in due to the bs usa legislation

I've also had this happen

due to variance

really all in your head

you run well---then withdraw money---then can't win
or run well---start playing elsewhere---lose there---lose everywhere

some people also have an ingrained desire to lose
one must really want to win

I agree with what Loner is saying and would like to add a couple points :

1) in on line poker the $ doesn't seem real.
You may have deposited it , but its gone.
(Already spent)

Its not like a live game where you have live chips in front of you.

You're just clicking a mouse to call , check , bet ,
so you're likely to click ,call a small blind with a jack , 5 off suite
whereas in a real live game you'd obv fold ...

So are others so they're catching your 10 pair , with jack 5
or making big draws beating your aces when they shouldn't ...

Also you need to figure out what game you're best at.
Some pros are good at tourneys,
others cash games ...

Many internet players just sit down and play whatevers available.

You may be good at a $ 2 SNG touney game and finish top 3 50/100
but step up to a $ 5 SNG ,
your winnings will drop ...
