And seeing as Im a newbie too sports books any tips or things I should know before placing bets?

Welcome to cappersmall

They all have different advantages & depends on what you like. Research a few of them and find some that work for you. The more you fund, the better chance you have to get the "best line"

I would recommend looking at any of the sponsors above. Check out some of below

Bet Jamaica
5dimes
The Greek
Bodog
Bookmaker.com

Another question for you guys.

the online sportsbook "pinnacle sports" have a low vigorish charged. heres the example from there webpage

"At Pinnacle Sports, we don't charge the standard retail -110 price for placing bets. On NFL sides for example, we use -104 style pricing instead and this lower vigorish means a player would only need to win 51% of his plays to break even."

So wouldnt it be best too find a sportsbook with the lowest possible vigorish charged? or is there a catch somewhere else along the way in the betting lines and such?

Sorry for the newb questions this is all new too me, I,ve been reading as much as i can, but that dosent answer all my questions. thanks again

Hi Cody,

What sports and options are you going to be betting? (I ask as some books are better for certain sports and options)

reduced juice. - pinnacle (we all would use them if we werent usa )
- matchbook - sometimes no juice.. this is a exchange, not a sportsbook
- 5dimes. safe to play and nickel juice.
-betphoenix . decent book. -105 lines and big bonuses (right now 100%)

great books but not low juice.
betjamaica - hands down top notch customer service and quick payouts.
thegreek.com - same partners as above, but for bigger players
Bookmaker - top tier book. early lines. moneylines up to -10000 (lol seriously)
betonline - solid book, will match any books bonus. (allow u to play freeplays on ANY ml they offer (they consider it a straight bet.. CRAZY, but has huge advantages))

If you like playing parlays and teasers I would recommend any of the ones Jack listed above with the exception of BoDog. They are terrible for teasers and parlays. They "red line" quite a few lines and do so quite often. ...and as "stash" notes above, Bookmaker offers money line (ML) options on just about everything. I also like SportsInteraction because of their available parlay options. For instance, basketball has blowouts all the time. I liked the Heat to blow out the Knicks last night and was able to "up" the normal spread 3 points to -8 . I liked the TWolves at +8.5 vs Portland and bought it down two to +6.5. So instead of a 13/5 parlay, I was able to place a two-team parlay at slightly higher than 4/1 odds. Pretty sweet. It's always good to get in with 3-4 books just to compare lines, though.
