It depends on what type of trader you are. if you plan to do major trading then go w/ Scott Trade. I personally use Share Builder because I buy ETF's and plan on sitting on them for at least 20 years. I do a lot of (DRIP) dividend reinvestment plan investing so I don't even need a broker for that. Look into the DRIPs because the power of compounding is a big moneymaker.

I like TDAmeritrade because of the tools they give investors and the price to trade is very reasonable.

Depends on what your goals are snowman. If you just need a company for stock trading, both scott and tdameritrade are cheap and pretty good. Don't know anyone using etrade right now, but they're still competitive.

I use Fidelity personally, and though I pay a little bit extra for my trades, the wealth of research and info on that site is worth it. I also have my IRA and 401k setup through them, so it is highly convenient to deal with one site to manage my savings and investments.

i saw a commercial where they said they offered $10 trades no matter how much you trade........is there any catch to this? i was thinking of switching there seeing as the only reason i used fidelity is because i had my 401k there already.
