Our Kids Are Dumb???

While we spend endless amount of time capping games, our children aren't learning anything and growing up dumb. How much time do you spend reading to your children as compared to in front of the computer or TV? My wife, who is taking an advanced computer course in college told me she's the only caucasian in her class. The rest of the students are either Oriental or Southeast Asians. Then we wonder why "others" have the best jobs. My 2 brothers, who were both born in this country,read and write in English, both work "pick and shovel." What a travesty!! We all have our vices, God knows i have ALL of them. But if you're spending half your day wondering who's going to win while ignoring your family (esp small children) its' time you re-evaluate your priorities.

I truely think he was trying to help other parents bp.

Afterall, mark knows if his kids were to grow up to be anything like him they will be far too stupid to work "pick and shovel" jobs and the people of his country will be forced to spend their tax dollars to support them.

You are the one having a problem with ignoring your kid’s when you are capping. It sounds like when you put money on a game and are watching it you do not want to be disturbed by anyone, even your own children. If you are having trouble separating gambling from your children & family, you may have a problem.

You don't know people's situations here Mark, I'm sure there are some people that ignore their kids here and I'm sure there are some that are the best fathers out there, just like in any cross-section of life. Its purely a result of cultural upbringing.

If you go back 100 years, the majority of ASIANS that grew up in Asia come from an impoverished background. They worked "pick and shovel" as well. However, they knew the only way to "get ahead" is to get an education. It was too late for them to get educated, so this was impressed upon their children, and their children's children. This does not mean jsut finishing secondary education, but post secondary as well. This is all done while living together as one happy family.

In other cultures, the importance of an education is not stressed enough. A lot of people only finished their secondary education because they had to get a job and help pay rent or pay for a place of their own.
