After Day-1 Canada trails quite a bit

It's not because I'm Canadian that I want them to win all the medals...I like to see any athlete of any country push the limits of their body and skills to set new world records.

But yeah, Go Canada Go!

10 Gold medals? or 10 medals in total? Total is a lock but 10 Gold looks pretty good--hope for 1 per day.

Here's the 2006 Winter Olympics Medal Count for Reference. Expect about the same Top-10 countries up there with a slight distribution in medals:

Since they're counting the opening day ceremony as Day-1, athis this the overall medal count after Day-3:

Overall Medal Count Rank Country Gold Silver Bronze Total:
--------------------------------------------------------
1 Flag of United States 1 2 3 (6)
2 Flag of Germany 1 3 0 (4)
3 Flag of France 2 0 1 (3)
4 Flag of Canada 1 1 1 (3)
5 Flag of South Korea 1 1 0 (2)
6 Flag of Italy 0 0 2 (2)
7 Flag of Czech Republic 1 0 0 (1)
7 Flag of Netherlands 1 0 0 (1)
7 Flag of Slovakia 1 0 0 (1)
7 Flag of Switzerland 1 0 0 (1)
11 Flag of Australia 0 1 0 (1)
11 Flag of Norway 0 1 0 (1)
11 Flag of Poland 0 1 0 (1)
14 Flag of Austria 0 0 1 (1)
14 Flag of Croatia 0 0 1 (1)
14 Flag of Russia 0 0 1 (1)

-Looks like the USA sent a very strong team these olympics. Could very well win the most medals.

-France was a surprise but expected to drop in the ranking.

-Netherlands' athletes are really surprising me for being such a small country--all top quality.

-Russia is a shocker so far. Competition too good for them so far. Expected to win hockey gold tho.

-Canada? well, overall athletes expected to win have disappointed but the ones least likely to win have a won a medal. The rest of the olympics will be intriguing.

Analysts are predicting the Flag of Canada to trail behind USA & Germany in the medal count for a bit...but the race will tighten up as they expect Canada to win 12 medals in the last 4 days as that's not only where the athletes are but it is their/our specialty. So be patient Cdns. And this is a good tip for the bettors too...GL

-Did you guys see the gals of the Swiss curling team? I can almost see them in skimpy lingerie. Looking forward to see them play again!

-Johnny Weir is uncomfortable in Canada--said he would live in the olympic village as he doesn't trust our own home grown terrorists and rioters--the fur protesters and animal rights group.

-Still lots of surprises as to medal winners--high favs not doing so well or as expected. But the quality of athleticism is very high throughout.

-Incredible the amount of these athletes that had surgery at one point or another due to sports injuries...many Favs can still feel the pinch and don't perform as expected.

-Canada's women's hockey team outscoring their first two opponents 28-1. Sweeden should be their toughest rival. Canada win Gold here no question.

Cdn reporters saying Sean Torino (USA) has the best chances of any athletes to win an olympic gold!!! He'll be on the half pipe--whatever that is (you might want to look into that and cash a winner!)

Germany has more medals than we sent athletes, still it has no shortage of coverage here. Doubt we will get a medal.
