Overrated Managers or Head coaches

in any sport

Talk Radio good topic - Is Lou Piniella overrated? He won almost 20 years ago and really hasn't done anything since. I say he is not, but more people were agreeing

Who else? Current or past coaches

Oh and I hate the Phil Jackson argument. Anyone with 10 championships can't be overrated

i agree with you on phil - he's had the best player in the league for all those championships, but still....

sometimes its harder to coach or manage the extremely talented players and their egos, rather than hard working, blue collar athletes that maybe aren't quite as talented, but listen to every word you say.

i dont think lou is overrated - he's not tony larussa by any means, but he does a good job of managing the lineup and the bullpen, putting guys in situations to succeed - too bad for him he manages the cubs and they sux

10 championships with the Best player(s) in the league...

SOrry fellas - I think he (PJ) is... The reason I say so is b/c others say he could be the greatest ever...

Also, Joe Torre. Hmmm... do I play this guy that makes $20M/yr or these other five guys... hmmm...

Phil coached a team to the finals two years in a row with basically a couple big time players and not much else. They literally got like zero production from the bench...he managed personalities and the expectations...guy just knows how to win

lebron has been as good as kobe, but they didnt make it to the finals either of the last two years...i would bet money that phil as coach of the cavs would have taken that team to the finals and maybe even won

Lebron is not as good as Kobe... plus he's still young... Kobe didn't do it early either... nor did he have Shaq
