Owen Wilson hosipitalized in apparent suicide attempt

Aug. 27) - Owen Wilson , the blonde-haired star of "Wedding Crashers" was reportedly rushed to the hospital on Aug. 26 for unspecified reasons, though the tabloid National Enquirer</B>reports that it was due to a suicide attempt.

PEOPLE has confirmed that ambulances rushed to Wilson's house shortly after Noon on Sunday, and Wilson's parents and brothers, including actor Luke Wilson , were seen at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Wilson's rep has not responded to requests for comment regarding the cause of the incident or the condition of Wilson. The Enquirer goes on to claim that Wilson's wrist was "sliced" and that he "took an indeterminate amount of pills."

National Enquirer editor-in-chief David Perel tells blogger Perez Hilton that Wilson's "wrists were slashed superficially and Owen had taken an overdose of pills." Perel goes on to say that Wilson "was found with a nearly empty bottle of pills next to him. He was at his house in Santa Monica."

The Santa Monica Police Department issued a statement about the incident, saying fire department paramedics were sent to at Wilson's Santa Monica address.

"A person was transported to a local hospital where they are being treated," the release stated. "Due to HIPAA medical privacy laws, no further information is being released."

Wilson's next movie, "The Darjeeling Limited," is set to open on Sept. 29. Wilson co-stars with Oscar winner Adrien Brody and Jason Schwartzman in the Wes Anderson directed comedy.
