The Pacific on HBO

anyone watching ?

Getting close to the end. Pretty good imho. Nasty and realistic.

It seems these hbo series are always pretty.

We had a guy from our hometown that was in Okinawa and Iwo Jima and I remember him coming to our school and telling about it.

War is pretty viscious.

Want to see this and Band of Brothers. Both look sick. How many episodes are there and how long do they run

only 1 more left now of Pacific. I would buy BoB on disc. Pacific is good, but not as good as BoB IMO. It is good though that Hanks & Speilberg did one for the Pacific campaign. BoB was just more popular because it was riding the excitement of Saving Private Ryan, which was awesome & thats why they decided to do BoB.

I had 4 great uncles in WW2, one in Europe & the other 3 in Pacific. One was on the Bataan Death March & was a POW for over 3 years

I'm glad you started a thread because i do have an opinion and you seem to share it

Band of Brothers was amazing...one of the best series I've ever seen. Emotionally stirring, exciting battle scenes, a real progression from episode to episode as one of the main characters gets promoted. the after part where they show the real guys today was even better

The Pacific. OMG HOW F-ING BORING! How did I make it through all 9 episodes? Only episode 8, where they show the Medal of Honor winner doing the boot camp was it compelling. I don't know who is who, don't care. it feels like they want us to realize just how tough the war was but there is no story or meaning behind it....

Band of Brothers -- A+, 10 out of 10
The Pacific -- D, 2 out of 10

Gfoots brings up some good points. They really made it hard for the viewer to distinguish who is who. It's like they jumped from character to character before we could even find out who each one was. Still a good series imo, shows just how brutal war is and you can't go wrong with Hanks and Speilberg. C'mon gfoots it's not great but it's better than a 2 outta 10

iggs i think maybe they are trying too hard here. The medal of honor stuff was interesting and all but when you think about it he's really the only story of any interest from the whole show...and from what they showed, he basically kicked a-- in two battles and from there they took him out of the war until he begged back in. Not a bad story, but not nearly as compelling as BOB

One of those sitches where because i watched the first three episodes, for 6 more now i keep saying OK i guess i'll watch the next one

LOL Spartacus on Stars is 100x this show imo, but then again NOBODY has seen Spartacus
