Parity in sports

No one can touch the NFL. Almost every game, every week looks like it's a tough game. Is this good for the NFL?

Any other sport come close?

Sure makes them NFL survivor and suicide pools tougher.

The cap really affects backup QB position. Years ago every team had a QB in waiting or a really good backup. Lose your starter and you are dead { indy +9} Makes for alot of so so teams

Indy is foolish for not drafting a QB this year or last. Manning is 35 and is going for a neck surgery...doh!

Indy's going 2-14 this year, getting the first pick in the draft and taking Andrew Luck. It's all part of the Irsay Master Plan.

Parity is healthy for the NFL. Unlike baseball, where you can easily eliminate over half of the teams from serious playoff contention before the season starts (hell, I can eliminate a third of the teams from serious playoff contention for 2012 right now), football lends itself to fans being able to generate a little more hope. Right now, I'd say 75% of NFL teams can honestly say their fans have some hope of making the playoffs (albeit needing some very good luck for many of them). A 16-game schedule is also a big part of this. 2 lucky or unlucky outcomes is often the difference between 10-6 and 8-8.

As long as the fans have hope, the NFL will be successful everywhere.

Salary cap has everything to do with parity.

It's great for the fans and sport.

Maybe one day we will be fortunate enough to have one in MLB
