Arrow Parlays and Teasers

Tell me what you think?

You know the saying, parlays and teasers are the books best friend.

What are the advantages or disadvantages of playing parlays and teasers.

Please keep it civil and just give your opinions. Let's have some good discussion on this.

I play one parlay a night, for a ˝ unit. It's my lottery ticket. Usually a 5-teamer. I had an uncanny knack of hitting them in Baseball last year.

I'm also experimenting with Round Robin parlays in Basketball. Basically, if you are going to play 5 teams on the side for 1* each, I think you're better off playing a Round Robin on 4/5 for ˝* each. Lower risk, higher reward potential. The only place you finish "behind" what you would have on sides is if you go 3-2 on the picks.

PARLAYS &TEASERS

True, they can be a bookies best friend. they also can keep a better out of big trouble. A small investment for a big pay off. A better who does not have a lot of capital but loves to play on a daily basis, parlays are a good alternative. Playing 1 Ten dollar par a day gives a person a ton of action well
allowing that person to keep the rest of whats imporant to them.(their families home, car etc. etc.)
TEASERS-Not a fan myself although I know they are a popular way to play.I never saw the logic in paying the long dollar for points that almost never come into play.I always felt you' re better off taking the extra vig money and throw it on a parlay, this way you get twice the action for about the same amount.

I do a lot of 3,4, and 5 teamers, mixed sport variet and usually, ONE BIG two teamer and one medium sized one. I love the thrill and cash the two teamers on a regular basis.
The 3 and 4 teamers are harder but I try to mix in a moneyline and it improves the odds.

Everynow and then I'll throw in a 10 teamer for a 1 dollar. hit a couple of those but they had a couple ML's as well, still good payout and a big thrill when they hit..
Generally, it's a bad proposition but they're fun and if you know what you're doing, can be VERY profitable

Like last night, I hit a big two teamer with Butler -4 and cavs +2...butler was down a few with a few mins to go and won by 6...
My last parlay was Lakers ML, Nevada ML, and San fran -1. San fran was up 20, Lakers had cashed but nevada was down...I was furious. Down 12 at one point but did play LA tech +9 for 4 units. Still needed nevada.
They come all the way back and still almost lose. Guy shoots an airball with 1 second, and fazekas put a miracle put back in to win by 1! I was going nuts....they won by 1 friggin point. I would have been MAD had they lost!

Many people now think that the NFL is impossible to bet as the lines are just to tough.
That said if teasors are supposed to be sucker bets, why do most books in vegas want no part of letting you bet 2 team 6 point teasors (unless you lay 120/100) I THINK that offshores that offer 11/10 and some still take at even money offers smart bettors a decent shot
at success against tough lines.

it is true....parlays and teasers are sucker bets and the books love em....Ill play parlays and teaser small just to try to get a nice hit....but you should never rely on parlays and teasers as your main bets....stick to straight bets...throw out those parlay and teasers when they wont affect the bankroll!

robertg,

A Round Robin wager allows a player to pick between 3 - 5 outcomes and create all the possible 2 or 3 team parlays from the selected outcomes.

So, for example, if you pick a five-team, three-play Round Robin, 10 three-team parlays will be created.

RobertG, just to expand on what Trossi said, lets say you have five teams, A, B, C, D, and E, and you play a Round Robin on 3/4/5 for $2.

This actually creates 16 parlays, each for $2, risking a total of $32, with all the possible 3 team, 4 team, and 5 team combinations. So you wind up with:

3 Team Parlays: A/B/C; A/B/D; A/B/E; A/C/D; A/C/E; A/D/E; B/C/D; B/C/E; B/D/E; and C/D/E
4 Team Parlays: A/B/C/D; A/B/C/E; A/B/D/E; A/C/D/E; B/C/D/E
5 Team Parlay: A/B/C/D/E

Let's say you get four out of five right, with team "A" losing. You'd win one of the 4-team parlays and four of the 3-team parlays.

I mainly do this with high moneyline favorites in soccer.

I think a person who makes teaser sports bets is akin to a horse player who plays a lot of favorites a "chalk player". That is someone who would bet 300 to make 50. To me your already getting screwed by betting 105 to win 100 thats less than even money so I play 2 and 3 teamers, still at 3-1, and 6-1 Im not getting enough for my dough. teasers are the ultimate sucker bets.

Round Robin play is just combination play.

If there are 3 games, you can only have ONE combination of 3 games, therefore 1 bet.

I played them a lot before when i didnt understand much and how they actually are "sucker bets" i'd win a lot at first when i tried 2 or 3 team parlays...hen you start going for the 4 or 5 temers and id win like 2 out of 20.....you'll most likely be better off betting straight wagers, make more money like that...in my opinon

I do play alot of parlays but mostly because the odds are so bad if you like the favorites you can't afford to lose one because of the large investsment to win decent money it takes you like 3 or 4 wins in a row to get back to even. I just don't like investing $500to make $200. I do mostly hockey and baseball because I think they are the eazyest to predict. It seems like most times you hit one of the two so I guess parlays are Books best friend.
