PC Infected

Have a virus on my laptop. Geek Squad wants $150 to fix the issue. Should I just pay the $150 or does someone know some good free software that will clean it up?

I did download the Malwarebyte rev before contacting Geek Squad but then started worrying it was bogus as well.

Was getting a lot of popups and google adds, timing out, running slow. Messed up last night and downloaded red cross antivirus which is a spyware and need to figure out how to get it off my pc now.
