Pittsburgh Pirates

Should they add a player or 2 and try to continue their run?

Is ownership willing to spend anymore money?

What do you think the Pirates need to make them a legitimate contender for the playoffs?

They should add a POWER Bat....no HRs for like last 8 games!!!!!!!

Nutting said he would rather spend money on buying out a contract.....ie Beltan, and would rather not morgage the future by trading top tier prospects....ie trading 3 prospects for say Hunter Pence.......

Would like to see them get a 1st Baseman like Tony Pena for super cheep (4mill)......

Pedro Alvarez comming back soon but the Pirates are out of the Carlos Beltran sweepstakes ............

The Bucs will throw the fans a bone, not prime cut.

No shot at winning the world series so dont morgage the future this yr but the Div is so weak this yr that if there was a yr to go for it, its this yr. Baby steps!!

A lot is going to be determined this week....they could very well by 6-7 games back by next Sunday......no need to sell the farm to make a run this season, trading for a Carlos Pena might make sense if the price is right, but more than likely, I see them trying to strengthen their middle relief, and bringing Alvarez up and hoping that is the power source they are missing.....

Get Houston to pay all or most of his salary and get Carlos Lee

Other suggestions

Alfonso Soriano
Carlos Pena
B.J Upton (though they don't appear in the mix)
John Buck

Lol, keep this fat piece of lard out of here! Defensive liability! Pirates team defense has been major factor in the improvement of pitching staff.

Pena is a great clubhouse guy I hear, would mix well with young chemistry....

You need another bat in the lineup, Lee is having a great July, not hitting alot of hr's, but still driving in runs

Correia has been exposed, Morton falling back to earth.
Good hitting catcher with power like Buck would be perfect

Lee 7 hrs, Bad D expensive headcase

Pena 20 hrs, DRays talked about how great of a clubhouse guy he is

Ryan Doumit is set to return, they have Chris Snyder tied up, Michael McKenry is comming around and is a fan fave, has a good handle on the staff already, good D, players like him, why send him to bench perm?

What's up with the Pirates owner? Don't know anything about him. Is he just a cheap bastard ?
