Poker - When to steal the pot

When playing on line poker , there are good times and bad times to try and steal a pot.

This is when you hold a crap hand and raise before the flop in hopes of winning without a fight.

You won't always win , but you often can if you play it right.

Sometimes it gets boring waiting for a good hand.

So how do you do just that?

- Who is in the blind.
You have to know who the player is and how they play.

If they are agressive it may not be wise.
If they are weak type , it may be an opportunity.
This is the type who normally only bets with a good pair.
You have to study your table for a while to figure out which type each player is.


- your table position -
It rarely works in the early position base on simple odds.
It often works on late position if your the ladst bettor.

-your table image-
If I asked you what your table image is -weak,medium,strong-what would you say? If it is weak or medium then you need to step up your game .

while you are studying other players they are studying you
if they've watched you raise 3 hands of junk , your cover's been blown as a bluffer
Its best to wait for a strong hand to bust them after that.
If they see you a a rock ,
you can exploit that by being selectively agressive.
Its a balancing act that requires hours of experience.

-your account vs others
if your account is small , others will call your raises even if yo have a good hand.
if your account is bigger than the rest , this is when you can take advantage.
you can weed out the week
when you have the biggest stack of chips on the table ,, you are in control and can push out the shorter stacked opponents.
that's how poker works.
afterall poker isn't meant to be fair

If you think I'm wrong just watch a tourny on tv next time and how
guys with big stacks with nothing out play the smaller stack guys with something

If you focus on who to steal from , what seat you're in , and how much you have to lose you can be successful at it.

Someone at the table has to be the bully ,
