Poll Forums?

Hey guys,

What do you think of a polls forum for each sport? It feels like the NCAAB forum was really messy this week and hard to navigate with all of the conference tourney polls.

Just my opinion..

True, too be honest, I wouldn't go searching on another forum to see what polls have been posted....good idea, but I just don't think it would be a popular one the way we have it.

yeah i think i remember they tried a seperate poll forum and it didnt work

Here's a thought - i remember back in the day that a poll didnt get bumped to the top when someone voted, it only got bumped to the top if someone posted in the thread.

Wonder if that's still possible?

It is possible to make polls only bump if someone replies instead of voting. It's an easy switch that we can try if majority wants it

The clutter in the CBB Forum is getting pretty bad.....if people really want to see a poll or who their favorite capper is on, they would go to a "Poll Forum" for a specific sport......too be honest, the polls are starting to get really annoying.

Just my opinion or does anyone else feel this way?

I guess it just seems bad when 10 are made in a 1 minute span....

upinya83 has tried to discuss this in several threads when this has come up. It just never gets more than a few people's input

Years ago I really wanted the poll in a separate forum but it just never got the action that let's say the CBB forum gets. The polls get a little more around tourney time or big games and this is when this comes up. Last time we tried this, I didn't turn off polls on regular forums, so if I did that - maybe it would help. But not positive it's what everyone wants. There are some who like it.

As mentioned before, right now it's set up to BUMP the post when someone votes, so if someone comes in and votes every game, it bumps them all up to the top. I think a better solution to try might be to remove that BUMP and it would only BUMP if someone replies to the thread, rather than just vote. Now that's not going to stop someone from just saying "bump" to the thread. Each time this debate comes up there is only a select few who comment so it's really hard to tell if the majority is annoyed.

I do have a question for people who are annoyed by them. What exactly is the annoying part?

1. Is it they are labeled POLL in the beginning?
2. Would it help if they were labled POLL & Discussion?
3. Is it that it's missing discussion and if so, what's stopping you from starting a discussion thread.

Anyway it's worth discussing so I'd like to know "what exactly is the annoying part of the poll" especially compared to other threads.

Lightbulb Polls compromise & test

Okay I know not everyone agrees but we are going to try this out for the NCAA tournament and see how it goes.

I have opened up a NCAA poll sub forum in college basketball forum and I have shut off the poll feature in the regular college basketball forum. You can get there from inside college forum or here http://www.cappersmall.com/forums/f63/

Let's see if this compromise works for everyone and maybe the people who do like the polls will get even more participation now

This is not set in stone - just a test!

I'll move all past NCAA polls there now

Feel free to leave feedback
