Possible Huge Position

I am seriously pondering a huge position in CTXS (Citrix). The usual CM technical analysis would be wonderful, as I am about to pull the trigger on a huge long term hold, but maybe I should wait a few months to buy in? Any advice would be great.

I am personally not a big fan of the company. Obviously that doesn't mean its not a great buy for a long term hold. I am sure there are a lot more stocks out there that would be better longterm holds for a huge position.

chart looks bad short term I would wait til mkt cools out, you might miss 2-3pts but long term that loss will be meaningless, but short term mkt tanking could really hurt..

example.. when the stk is at 100 in 3 years, you will not be kicking yourself that you bought at 38 instead of 36.. but you will kick yourself if you buy now at 36 and 2 weeks from now the mkt tanks again and CTXS is trading at 32..

Any reason in particular that you do not like the company? Software, support, management...?

I'm in IT and actually do a lot of work with citrix, they are doing quite well as a company and after their last acquisition, a company called Netscaler which proved to be VERY successful, they are looking for more to expand their offerings. I think its a a solid company

It does have a nice P/E, gapped up, closed the gap and looks to be heading higher, it just doesn't move that much for me, a little boring IMO, but as I said, its long term, and it is does have good software. Software company's usually have strong 2nd halves. This would be a good entry point for you. One rule of thumb though, for long term investing, if the stock drops under 10% from where you got it, you should definitely sell because its obviously not moving in the right direction for you.

Check out BRCM for a hold until around December, again, usually strong 2nd half and traders usually start taking profits around the holidays if it has had a nice run up.

Nice call waiting for the drop KellosJ. Good luck long term. Holding up nicely after the big dip today.
