Professional Black Jack Players
Well,
I lost my ass off during the NCAAB season. I lost about 10 dimes, just about my entire bank roll, so I decided to take a long break. So I started to hit the tables in Vegas and AC and I am now completely out the hole and have actually padded my bank roll. I am going to either location about once a month and am planning to increase that to twice a month and if it goes well, I think I am going to quit my job and just do that, of course I am about to receive a healthy bit change from a rich uncle that recently passed so that helps as well. Question is, have any of you been successful over the long term playing the tables? I feel that between my skills and a little luck, I just might pull it off. As a matter of fact, I have convinced my wife to move to the Vegas burbs in about 2 years. Looking forward to your comments The CiscoKid

I lived in Vegas for about 1.5 years doing contract/consulting work. During this time, I made roughly $200-500 weekly playing blackjack, which I think is realistic.
I use a blend of different systems, using the a plus count hard bet combined with a chase-type betting system. Money management and weekly goal amount is the key, as in most gambling. Living in Vegas is another key. The amount of table options will help you profit. Two deck systems are perferable, as there are many two deck options in Vegas and it allows one to get an effective count. Single decks are rare and they shuffle to often. However, the Horseshoe is mostly all single decks and if you get them late night on the weekdays, you can geta good table alone and get 3-4 hands before shuffle. Lastly, remeber this when you study and learn: Most books, systems, teachers, ect.. fail to mention a key, key point that makes living on BJ a real stretch: When you bust, the dealer takes your money immediately, irrespective of whether they bust the hand after the fact. That rule shifts the odds drastically, meaning your are almost never have a 50% shot. You must stagger your bets to compensate for this rule. I would not advise playing BJ as a life strategy unless oyu have a team that is well versed in both Vegas, math and cards.

Thanks JB,
I use a modifed version of the basic strategy as well as a modified progressive money managment system. I have tried the Martingale reverse progressive but with that you have to play at a high limit table and I usually play at the $50 table which for me is good balance of skilled players and a nice minimum bet. As you know another critiical aspect of winning at Blackjack is a good table with skilled players, there is nothing like playing at a $10 table when some newbie takes a hit on a 14 while the dealer shows a 6. The only thing I do not do yet is actully count cards, I know how to do it, but it takes a lot of concentration and I don't think I can get away with it for long as I will be found out by the casino. I am actually going this Saturday, I live in Virginia, so going to Vegas is not an easy thing, but the draw is strong. I was there the weekend of the 26/27 and won 4 dimes, then I ended up going back the following week for my vacation and won 4.4 dimes. This weekend, who knows??? The CiscoKid

Without a team good, money management and good luck, its not really worth looking into for life as I stated above. Plus, you can lose you ass on any given month if you dont have the pockets.

All I can say is good luck. Many have tried the same thing, and most have not made it. You had better be a very good card counter, and more importantly, be very effective in hiding that fact. If any hotel as much as suspects you of counting, they will toss you out, and immediately have you blakc listed in Vegas, and that is the best thing that can happen to you. Believe me, they have people who can spot counters a mile away. They know all the systems that work, and those that do not. Since Blackjack is the only game where the odds favor the player (if he counts and plays correctly), the casinos go out of their way to find the counters.

LMAO... reminds me of the first time a played blackjack at a casino... I was splitting 10's left and right, and winning almost every time (beginners luck, as I later learned).... I couldn't figure out why everyone at my table keep snarling at me, and eventually leaving the table.... until the dealer told me I was being a douchebag... lol... good times....

Cisco just some friendly advice, if you are not even willing to learn card counting than don't bother
i switched from bj to sportsbetting specifically for the fact that there is skill in sports betting, even if I and most others don't actually exhibit any skill ![]() table games do not require skill, they require that you memorize rules and keep track of multiple decks of cards. don't waste your time. pick a sport you do well in, and get better at it and you have a chance to make money. not trying to rain on the parade as much as prevent the rain
