Aced it in college. Led my journalism school's public speaking classes.

Since emceed 1000's of events. Long radio career in sports doing play-by-play and studio shows. Hosted shows with a reach of over 70-million people in front of live audiences hundreds of times.

So, yes, I love it.

If talking to kids before football games counts then you can count me in. I could see my team come to life as I laid out the plan on how we were going to take care of business. By the time I would be done talking I wanted to play.

Spoke at a Sod Convention in Utah. It was interesting to see the different responses out of the people in the crowd.

I like when you start talking then draw a complete blank. Like you have no idea what the f*ck you were just talking about. And have no clue what to say next. That's awesome.

(If you work for CBS, you have to sign something saying you won't bet on the NCAA tourney.) However, I've stood on many sidelines and been in many press boxes, mostly the Superdome, where most writers/reporters there care more about their bets than the game we're at. It's funny to watch them all have Microsoft Word open on their laptops for writing, but constantly dropping that window to reveal the various scores below it.

I co-hosted a baseball show with a World Series ring holder, I co-hosted a MNF show from a restaurant owned by a Super Bowl winner, I did a regional SEC show on Friday nights and a football handicapping show on Thursdays, among many others. We reached into Texas, the panhandle of Florida, and north to Indy, Louisville, etc.

I've shown up somewhere, thinking I knew what to expect, then told that I have to be funny, host an impromptu game show, or judge a bikini show.

I showed up to DJ at a hip-hop club and was told that it was rented out by some sororities for an "80's night." They were insisting they told me all about it.

It's no big deal now but it used to be.

Key is to know what you want to say and have a desire to say it to help others in some way.

What's bad is trying to bumble through something you don't know or care much about in front of people who are trying to learn something... you feel like an idiot lol.

I enjoy public speaking, never really had a problem with it. When you are young, it is about courage, and as you grow it is about eloquence and knowledge.
I was just asked to be the Alum welcome speaker at a college commencement ceremony. Coming up in a couple of weeks. Should be fun.

Only really done a couple in my adult life, but got very good feedback. Would not shy away from doing more in future, esp if it involves something of interest to me. They are rewarding on a number of levels.

I see you're in SLC...I loved listening to Hot Rod Hundley.

You're not him, are you?
