Quality CD-R recommendations ?

I keep buying low cost CD-R....Imation, TDK, etc...
Over 50% of my burns fail and the cd is rendered useless.
Does anyone experience similar problems and could you recommend a quality CD-R Brand. My burner is new, so it must be the cd's ?
Thanks !

BC--I have a Phillips stand-alone burner (bought it a couple of years ago). For a while, only Phillips brand CD-Rs were working in it. Then they stopped making them. I find that the Maxell CD-Rs (the ones that specifically say AUDIO recording on them) work for me pretty much every time. Maybe only 1 in 15 get effed up. Try 'em.

bc,
i also had that issue, i thought it was the my CD drive itself but found out the quality and the speed of the CD wasnt compatible. Just spend a few extra bucks on more well known brands or anything that looks fancy, lol.

Memorex is solid... and burn at a slow speed if you have to.

I have never had problems with the generic brand cd-r's I buy them on the net for very cheap. What is strange is I have a dvd burner and the only dvdr's that work are the generics. If I use a name brand they won't record.Strange.

BC I had the same issues a while back as I burn a lot of music.

First off if you have a Roxio Burner installed it is a piece of crap. They are the worst burners ever made and are not compatible with Dell Computers. Why they are installed on their machines is beyond me. I took out my Roxio and installed a Sony CD/DVD +/- burner and have never had another issue.

As far as CD's go I have tried them all and only use one kind now. Fuji 80 minute CDR's, hands down the best quality CD's I have ever used. Maxell are OK and so are Memorex but for about the same price or a hair more you can get the Fuji's and the sound is noticeably better and cleaner.

P.S. A ruined CD is only good for only thing..........a drink coaster. Let me know if you have any other questions that I could help you with.

One last thing.

This link is updated with sale prices on different brands of CD's in your respective state. Just follow your state links and then click on Blank CD-R Discs. It will help you find the best deals on the market for the brands you use.

Happy burning!!!

Yankee 23 thanks...
My burner is a Lite-on Combo SOHC that came in a new HP PC...Probably not a great one. I am going to try the Fugi, Maxell, and Memorex brands next here. Someone above suggested slowing down the burn speed, which I discovered is an option for my burn program. This may have something to with it also ? Appreciate the response pal...thanks !
