Hey bro, gotta question for ya and I heard your pretty good at IT so hope you can help me out with it.

Recently I just bought a Sony Vaio and it came with chinese windows vista home edition. I am gonna upgrade it to the FAKE Windows Vista Ultimate English version next week. Now i noticed I didnt even get a recovery disk for my vaio so once i reinstall Windows where would i get my orginal sony software?

go to http://esupport.sony.com/perl/select...6,66,9,70,5,72 and look up the computer model you bought. They may have the free software that it came with.

Vaio doesnt come with a recovery disk because it has a partition physically on the hard drive for recovery

If you are just upgrading, the software will still be there. If its all in Chinese then you either need to learn Chinese or you are out of luck there.

Romo is right about the recovery partition; if you ever need to invoke the Recovery Console it will be easy to restore everything from it. Although it really does no good if your hard drive crashes. I think Sony has a piece of software that will let you burn that partition to bootable CDs.

Personally, I would burn the recovery partition to CDs, format the whole hard drive and load Vista clean, download the drivers for your make/model from Sony, and Torrent any software that you need - or install them from the CDs that you burned.
