Mix it up, never do the same workout twice. Use progressive overload. This is how your body responds best in terms of growth. Combine varied heavy lifting with short but intense cardio. Eat ultra clean.

Weights, cardio, and a calorie deficit.

Look up High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) for cardio

check out crossfit.com....post daily workouts, many named workouts under FAQ....scale the workouts to your level, but awesome workouts, great combination of cardio/strength training/multi-joint movements....doesn't have max lifting involved, but if you crossfit a couple days a week and have you strength training days once or twice a week you should get some great results

Agree totally with eating healthy and ingesting low calories...you can workout lots with great exercises but if your muscles are covered in fat then you'll never be "cut".

Not sure exactly what your goals are but boxing is a GREAT workout. By its nature it's definitely a high intensity workout. I've played ALOT of sports (football, basketball, rugby, soccer, swimming, and tennis mostly) and during my time boxing I was in THE best shape of my life. You'll get cut...not like a body builder but you will trim down and firm up. After your time hitting the mitts, heavy bags, speed bag, etc you could go through some isometrics and plyometrics. If you're looking to build more muscle mass then incorporate some weight lifting ater a few weeks. Not to mention you'll learn how to defend yourself better just in case something ever happens. To get started i would highly recommend joining a boxing gym to get proper lessons on form, technique, idealogy, etc. Just check out a local boxing gym, ask some questions, and just hang out there for a bit.

Someone mentioned about varying your workouts which I think is perfectly fine. But in my experience it was much more beneficial to incorporate cross training (in my case swimming) after I had reached a certain level or baseline with my conditioning. But I'm guessing you're more on the side of a couch potato then a world class athlete so getting into the routine and commitment for one particular activity would be best.

Obviously, eating right is HUGE!

Good Luck amigo...

always do your cardio after the weights.

The initial activity burns the sugar first... once you're done with with weight training, the fat/calories will come off quicker when you get to the cardio

I do a cycle of HIIT workouts with my summer p.e class. We do 7 cycles M, W, F. On Tuesday and Thursday we do our workouts in our pool at the school. The Cycles for the HIIT are 1 minute we run at a high intensity (Sprog is what I call it) which is in between a jog and a sprint. Then we jog at a low intensity for 2 minutes. Thats 1 cycle at 3 minutes total and we do it 7 times. So basically only 21 minutes of good cardio. Its the best way to burn calories in my opinion. Then if you want to get cut up you really only need to lift 3 to 4 times a week. Vary your workouts. On Monday for chest do bench press and dumbell press, and then on Friday for chest do Incline Bench or Decline and if access to machine weights do a couple sets of bench on the machines. Just make sure you mix it up and vary your workouts for each muscle. Hope this helps. I know you did not want supplements but I have recently got back into lifting, and am taking Wheybolic Extreme 60 Protein from GNC. It is the best Protein I have ever had with great results and quick recovery. It can be a little pricey but you buy one tub and get the other 50 percent off, and it has 60 G of Protein per serving. Eat a lot of proteins and watch your calories. Cut the calories as said above, and do not eat after 7 or 8 p.m. Again hope this helps... good luck

Your muscles are covered in fat. Reducing the fat will help you see their definition. It would also help if they got larger by working out since this speeds up the process.
