i see...well the main reason is because it is extra income i would be losing...jobs in china dont pay much as it is...damn good for living locally, but not ideally for saving for the longterm...by not being able to play poker there, i would be losing even more money...so it is a concern for me...plus i would be bored out of my mind

Yes, I currently do live in Shanghai, China for the past 6 years now... Gambling is illegal here and government is quite strict on it. Alot of friends play poker online and some of them that have existing accounts prior moving here have no problems playing but the ones trying to open an account from here have encountered problems. I personally dont play cards online as i think most of that chit is rigged so i prefer sports but alot of my friends here play texas hold em online so.. Some sites you can some sites you cant.. Hope this helps...

I gotta say living in Shanghai is a blast... The living expenses are alright compared to salaries for expats here. More and more foreigners are moving to china cuz they see the development for the future. Right now average salary for an expat is about 25,000rmb , which is about 2600 usd but here the nice apartments are about 5,000rmb a month so other than that you got alot to work with.. I got a friend teaching english making 30,000 rmb a month and he is living it up teaching BENQ and Siemens Busniess English....

I have spent 4K the last few years on dental work and have another big bill upcoming. It actually would have worked out cheaper to take two (let alone one) seperate flights to China and have the work done. I know of people who have done just that. Too much hassle for me personally, but I did and am considering it.

i would consider doing that in thailand...a bit less hassle going to thailand to get the work done...no visa needed, whereas you must get one to go to china
