Radon
Does anyone know anything about this?I have some respiratory problems.I have worked with free silica and asbestos in the past and I know that it didn't help but the new thing is Radon testing.I had 3 long term tests done throughout my house and it averages 5.0.I know the max should be 4.0.Should I be worried or is this just another scare thing?

I am not sure much about it but I do know it's in all of the leases in Florida but really not sure exactly what it does or where it is

Unless your selling your home 5.0 is not bad at all.. Its 2.5 (most run 3 to 4 range) at least in any home without a system.. The EPA has made a cutoff and its 4.0.. But randon can run in the hundreds ( anything above 10 IMO a system is needed) Its not like at 3.9999999 your safe but at 4.000001 you are at danger.. Just caulking any cracks in a unfinshed basement or garage can bring it down a point .. Its like the experiation date on milk .. We all know you can squeeze a day or two past the expire date... It does not turn overnight.. The goverment is not going to chance injury to people so that 4.0 is a very soft number ( some countries are as high as 10) In recap 5.0 .. No system unless selling then not before sealing cracks if there are any.. Gambling will take more years off your life then a 5.0 randon.. I will send Jack my consultant fee.. P.... If your still freaking put in the system... if you are going to sell at any point the sytems will only go up in prices in the future ( around 800 and 4 hrs to put in around the Burgh area)...

I have lived here 27 years so too late now if it was harmful.I am not selling.I just tested because they had a big seminar here on it.Figured it was to sell systems because they gave out free tests.Thanks for the responses.

Anything that goes airborne goes into your lungs.
If u know asbestos then this is basically the same. Long term exposure will get u but it could take 150 years. Concentrate levels and your immune resistance is key to your sensitivity towards it. If it's not one thing, it's another. I expect the EPA to ban fibreglass pink insulation in the future. This stuff will scar your lung tissues much faster than asbestos fibres. Yet nothing has been done about it yet.
