Re-living your life thru you kids

Have coached football for 9 years at the High School level and Youth football level. Never have I met anyone like the Little League coaches out there today. Its not just one individual its almost every team in the league. The 2 coaches kids ALWAYS make the All Star team. The coaches kids play the key positions. I guess when you sign up to be a coach one of the perks is that your kid gets to be the star even if he sucks. My son has made the All Star team and he plays second base and pitcher. I am not upset about where my son has been placed but rather the lack of support by the coaches sons to help the team win. Its almost embarrassing to watch and I am sure that little johnny would much rather be hiding in the out field. At the age of 12 and 13 kids can be very mean. The comments coming from the dugout are brutal to the coaches kids. I blame the coaches for putting their kids in a bad spot. My son has only played baseball for 2 years. He plays football and plays baseball only to stay in shape. The sad part is that they end up leaving some good ball players at home when we leave to go play in the All Star games. We stand no chance with the coaches sons going. Does this happen in the cities you all live in ? Just interested as its a very sad situation for everyone involved. Especially when a kid ask the coach why does so and so get to go he has only had one hit all season. Hope your towns or cities are different. Enjoy your day.

promised i will never do this because my dad didnt do it to me. he was a 3 sport all city star and basketball in college. i was an all city baseball player and headed to a D-1 school on a full ride for baseball until i tore my rotator cuff. he never pushed me, just told to never, under any circumstances ever quit or give up. if i started a season i had to finish it. he coached me in little league and never gave me special treatment. he watched quietly in the stands for all 4 years of my varsity games, never once yelling at me or telling me what to do......although he would let an umpire know when he blew a call. my dad was a gamer, loves sports. i love to just call him and talk about how the phillies blew 2 games in the 9th.

he was a realist. i sat the bench all of freshman year on varsity and most of sophmore and i was always bitching to just let me play on JV, and he told me, one day your going to be given a chance, and with all this bitching you are doing, you better not blow it. stop taking your natural talent fro granted and go out and work harder. and thats when i really came on.

Seanie Mac, your Dad was a class act. I wish everyone had that kind of father. Thanks for your reply.
