Reggie Jackson Blasts Antonio Cromartie, Rex Ryan for Insulting Patriots

Reggie Jackson knows a thing or two about winning championships -- he has five of 'em. He also knows a few things about being a New York legend. As polarizing as he was during his brilliant career, he was a dynamic player and a bona fide superstar.

So when he talks, people listen, and this week, he just about flipped his lid when discussing the trash talk of Antonio Cromartie.

"Shut up, play football," Jackson said on The Michael Kay Show on ESPN Radio. "What are you talking about Bill Belichick and these people for? Spend your time looking at film, spend your time knocking down a pass. What are you doing? You're not affecting [Tom] Brady. You're wasting time."

Jackson, who said he's hoping the Jets win, said he also wasn't a fan of Rex Ryan's jab at Brady, specifically the coach's joke that Brady should have been watching football rather than a Broadway show last Saturday.

"This guy is an automatic Hall of Famer," Jackson said of Brady. "Making fun of him is like making fun of Mariano Rivera. What are you doing? What are you doing?"

Jackson's parting words for Cromartie were rather emotional.

"Go look at the hardware, dude," Jackson said. "Walk through the lobby [in New England] and look at the stuff that's there. You don't have that -- you don't have anything close to that. You might want to shut up, you might learn something. Read, you might figure something out. Watch film, you might get educated. If not, you have a chance to get embarrassed on Sunday."

i love it as well. what are they supposed to do. praise the patriots and say how badly they got beaten. you have to be a little cocky/confident to be good in sports. the weak never win.

its like the kobe/jordan way. you could easily say both come off as assholes and jerks because they are so competitive and confident, but its those traits that allow them to hit those game winning shots.


the jets NEED that hate for the patriots. i dont believe they can go out there and just out plan the pats. they need that passion, that hate to overtake them and play smashmouth football on both ends. its where they have the advantage.

if someone asked me "what do you think about the star player on the other team pointing at your bench when he is whooping your team, i would probably call him the same words as cromartie"


its a shame, in a world of free thought/speech that too many athletes get critcized for what they say. the political/textbook answers are so boring and we all know the athletes/coaches are lying to us anyway, when they say it. i guarantee you brady, bellichek and co. feel and say the exact same things the jets do, just not in public.


reggie jackson is funny thought. what do you expect rex ryan to do at a PRESS CONFERENCE that he is ordered to go to. i guess reggie jackson wants rex ryan to bring in gamefilm to the conference and go over plays with the media.

i think reggie wants the jets to go up to foxboro and go to midfield, bow down to the patriots and go home, because the pats won championships in the past.

the one thing that i find totally hilarious is how the media was taking rex ryan's word about peyton manning and spinning them as a big blow to brady.


all rex ryan said was peyton manning prepares more than brady because peyton manning has shit coaches around him and brady has the best coach of all time with him. IS THAT NOT THE TRUTH??????

how is that a big mock to brady. its common sense! brady has bellichek who can help him gameplan and everything. peyton has jim caldwell. jim caldwell doesnt know how to use timeouts properly. there is a big difference
