Reports: Tiger Woods to make 'special' announcement today
Tiger Woods will make a "special announcement" this morning on The Golf Channel, it was reported Sunday.

Woods, who has not played since The Players Championship in May because of injuries, will make the announcement at 11 a.m. ET in an interview with network host Kelly Tilghman, Yahoo! Sports and NBC Sports reported.

Both sites cited a tweet by The Golf Channel, but the post appears to have been deleted. Neither Woods' official site nor his Twitter feed made any mention of the interview, either.

Speculation overnight centered on whether Woods will play again in 2011; he injured his left knee and Achilles' tendon at the Masters in April and aggravated the injuries at The Players Championship in May, forcing him to withdraw from that tournament after just nine holes.

The former world No. 1 player announced last week that he would not play in the British Open, which begins Thursday, but also indicated that he was looking forward to returning to competitive golf.

"I think my best years are still ahead of me, and I'm very confident and optimistic about the future," Woods said in a statement.

Look forward to the announcement. As an avid golf bettor, I always hope he plays. More betting options, interest and coverage. Not expecting good news today.

Yeah me too.....and the suspense. These days though its nearly always leaked before the announcement.
