right or wrong?

So my friend puts a few bets through my online account and finds him self down 400. He text msgs me saying I want byu plus 2.5 I said I gotta go ill put it through. I get line at plus 1 put 1000 on it (8 me 2 him). They lose by 2. He texts me later saying nice I'm down 200 I say sorry I couldn't contact you line was plus 1. Now he wants to only give me 200 when I told him I would take his loss for my mistake. What does he owe me? 620? 400? 200? Please give an explanation with your answer because he is thick headed.

Thanks

my advice is dont bet with/for friends

He said he wanted BYU +2.5, you said you'd put it through - i think its on you at that point - if you had said let me check the line and get back with you, then it wouldve been different.

jmo, and gl

Regardless, he gets a free bet and I show him my account which has 1000 on byu plus 2.5. Nevermind me losing 1100 on the account, I'm not giving him 200 as well. All he wanted byu for is because golden greek had a 20 unit play. If the line was minus 7 he wud still have the bet.

If he is a friend of yours then hopefully you show him the account, take the loss, and he owes you $400. Ultimatley it is on you though since you never let him know what the actual line was.

My advice, never bet with friends or family. I have lost friends in the past over this bullshit and had a lot of arguments, I quit taking bets or letting people go through me that I knew a long time ago, makes life a lot easier.

Thanks for the input.

I made a mistake, the game was San Diego State vs BYU, line opened at +4.5 Sd and when Golden greek had SD +2.5 20* all he wanted was to tail gg.

So he sais get me SD for 200 at +2.5. At this point he is stuck 400 and i know it will take him a while to pay, so im being nice giving him a shot to win. I just dont understand why i should lose my bet for 1100, plus an additional 200 to him. Ok i accept that i did not give him a proper line at the time we spoke, but it was basically a free bet. Sd wins and no complaints. I feel punished enough taking the loss, but an additional 200, i just cant take it.

Who gets me?

if it's online then you should have a record of the bet..show it to him. If he ends up not paying, consider it a 200 dollar lesson and move on and dont take anymore bets for anyone but yourself. I learned the hard way with a close friend..i put some bets through with him at one time and ended up winning and the jackass ended welching the money on me..needless to say, i have never bet for or through another person again.

We had sd plus 1 lost by 2. Byu was minus 1 opemed minus 4.5. He already saw my account plus 1. He doesn't care he's acting like I took his action. He doesn't see the difference from us both winning and either he wins or I win

well if he's already seen your account with the line and refuses to pay then he's a jerk. My question tho is the game lasted 3 hours, you couldnt call him one time to let him know the line was +1 for him to decide whether to take the bet or not?

i think he said he couldnt get ahold of him

as friends, i hope you can work it out - maybe you can split the loss?

but the bottom line is he said put me on sd +2.5, and you said okay

Ur right. Because I saw it posted 2.5 on ggs thread. But when I found out it was 1 I still put it through. Regardless I'm gonna end up losing an extra 420 because of my stupidity

def. should have sent a text or something with new line. ur buddy should just count it as a no bet and pay the $400. then tell him to open his own account.

You should not have placed the bet in the first place. If the line was lower. You should have not placed it at all, and sent him back a text saying sorry line dropped. If you didn't get a hold of him before or couldn't. After the game, you say sorry i wasn't able to get your bet in because it was at +1.

If he is understanding, he won't expect you to pay him out on the bet. He should just expect the bet not to count.

As someone always put it best to me. Its ethics.
