Rosetta Stone?

Anybody actually ever use this? Just curious, thinking about sharpening up some language skills and heard this works great. Looked it up on ebay and they are going for like $500! I'm trying to pirate the software but it looks like people that have uploaded it have it in like 14.6 GB which is rather large file

I've never tried it personally, but I've heard good things. Supposedly you can get a free demo, before you buy. I'd try that first to see if i liked it, before I forked out the cash.

iggs, I got a copy awhile back and was messing with it........it basically just puts everything in your chosen language the entire time so if you take it seriously and actually use the way it's intended then it seems like a good way to end up speaking much faster than 10 yrs of classes at a local college or something........i only got a few lessons in but i think one drawback is that i don't believe it teaches you a lot of grammar type things....i could be wrong since i didn't get very far though
it does seem like a legit way to pick up a language

lol good points..

i was working with the spanish program because i wasted 9 yrs of school taking german....if i had known we'd have such a large spanish speaking population i'd have just done that all along

in using rosetta it basically shows pictures and speaks the words for you, then you can use your mic to say them back....then you have little quizzes at the end so you do learn things like colors, numbers and other basic things right away

"as you know, your regular teacher, Sister Rosetta Stone is out on leave. I am your substitute teacher, Sister Mary Elephant".

Seth: Fogell, this ID says that you're 25 years old. Why wouldn't you just put 21, man?
Fogell: Seth, Seth, Seth. Listen up, ass-face: every day, hundreds of kids go into the liquor store with fake IDs, and every single one says they're 21. Pssh, how many 21 year olds do you think there are in this town? It's called f*cking strategy, alright?

nothing to get pissed about lol no you don't need it, i never used one....it's just so you can repeat what they're saying and it supposedly tells you if you're right or not......i just repeated it to myself, mic seemed like a waste of time
