Sad story: 16 yr old baseball player...

dies after being hit in chest with a pitch.

Teen Dies After Being Hit By Baseball

MYFOXNY.COM - "A high school baseball player from Garfield, N.J., died over the weekend after being hit in the chest by a pitch during practice.

Thomas Adams, 16, was a sophomore at Garfield High School.

The teen was the catcher and was wearing a chest protector during the all-star team's indoor practice on Friday night. The players were getting ready for a tournament in Florida later this month.

The teen went into cardiac arrest after being struck. He later died at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Paterson.

The boy's father told local papers that his son had no known medical conditions.

A wake was scheduled for Monday in Garnerville, N.Y., and a funeral Mass was to be held on Tuesday at St. Gregory Barbarigo Church in Garnerville.

His teammates have reportedly decided to play in the Florida tournament, deciding it was the best way to honor Adams' memory."

When my son was 16, thought he killed his coach during BP. Coach was throwing BP from about 60 feet WITHOUT a screen. Lined one straight into his chest and he dropped like a rock. Scared the crap out of us. Never threw BP without a screen again
