Seat without a view

NY man sues airline over flight spent in toilet

Mon May 12, 6:52 PM

NEW YORK (Reuters) - A New York man who says he was denied a seat on a five-hour jetBlue flight and was instead told to "hang out" in the plane's bathroom has sued the airline for $2 million, saying he suffered "extreme humiliation."

When Gokhan Mutlu arrived to check in for a jetBlue flight from San Diego to New York in February he was told the flight was full, according to the lawsuit filed in New York State Supreme Court.

But Mutlu was allowed to board after a jetBlue flight attendant agreed to give up her seat and travel in an airline employee "jump seat." It was not clear in the lawsuit whether the flight attendant was working.

However 90 minutes into the flight, the pilot told Mutlu the flight attendant was uncomfortable and he would have to give up his seat and "hang out" in the bathroom for the remainder of the flight, the lawsuit said.

The pilot "became angry at (Mutlu's) reluctance" and said Mutlu "should be grateful for being onboard," the lawsuit said. When Mutlu volunteered to sit in the "jump seat," he was told it was reserved for airline personnel.

At one point, the airplane experienced turbulence and Mutlu sat on the toilet seat without a seat belt, causing him "tremendous fear," the lawsuit said.

JetBlue was not immediately available for comment.

I hear that he ended up sitting next to rjb, and after a couple of hours of San Diego Chargers talk he locked himself in the bathroom...now he's changing his story for the cash.

now that is another reason why i refuse to fly domestically in this country..musch rather pay the extra cost and go through europe and then have another ticket and fly to asia that way...any amount of time on a domestic flight just sucks and seeing that i live on the east coast and no direct flights from where i live, i will buy separate tickets so i don't have to bother with that crap

one time i had a first class ticket from lax to phl and they told me that it is overbooked and i had to sit in economy...economy on a domestic flight is just utter hell...wish they would have given me the option of sitting in cargo...because it would have been a hell of a lot better

For a dude who comes off as somewhat carefree and just blowing in the wind to wherever life may take him,(i dont mean that in a bad way) you come off a little weird about the flying economy on domestic flights. I don't understand what is so bad about economy? 1st class is way to expensive and rather nonsensical. Why pay extra for a short flight?

I just, for one never understood first class. I mean you go to Korea cause stuff is cheaper and allows you to travel and you live in Delware? What gives? lol

that was the only time i flew first class actually....used miles for first because economy was sold out on the outbound flight....domestic economy just sux man...horrible leg room and shit service...now flying internationally economy is fine..IF you are on a non usa carrier...but to tell you the truth if you were to fly from east coast usa to west coast i would recommend first class...it isnt that much more expensive actually and man it is awesome...one the best flights i ever had was phl to lax first class...flew first class then to bkk from lax and it wasnt all that..not that much different imo to business or economy on that flight...but there was a major difference for first class domestic compared to economy class domestic

actually korea is fricking expensive...usa is way cheaper in most areas.(except for bars compared to delaware..jesus christ bars are expensive in this area these days)..just good place for making cash
