Thumbs down Shooting at fort hood

HOUSTON (Reuters) – At least seven people were killed and 12 wounded in a shooting at a U.S. Army base in Fort Hood, Texas, on Thursday, local media reported.

One gunman was in custody and another was on the loose, local media reported.

One station said there was a third shooter involved.

The attack happened at the Soldier Readiness Center at Fort Hood, according to the FOX 4 television station.

The base is currently in lockdown mode, according to Fort Hood's website.

Fort Hood is halfway between Austin and Waco, about 60 miles from each city, in Texas.

This is nothing compared to what TTB is going to do when Texas loses by 50 in the National Championship.

This is eerily familiar.

Before Oct. 16, 1991, the Central Texas town of Killeen was perhaps best known for its proximity to the Army base at Fort Hood, and Luby's was known only regionally as a popular cafeteria chain that served a wide variety of inexpensive dishes.

But on that day, both came to be linked to what was then the worst mass murder in U.S. history. At 12:45 p.m., 35-year-old George Hennard of nearby Belton drove his pickup truck through a window at the Killeen Luby’s then shot and killed 24 people. His 15 minute rampage ended when he shot himself after being wounded by police officers.
